She watches him at night, as he sleeps on the ground, and she feels ashamed of herself, but only slightly. It isn't as if she should share her bed with him, and they have no others.

It's easy enough to reason it out.

She looks him over and thinks.

He is not handsome – no, his face is far too worn and rugged for that, but she is not pretty either, years of hard work have robbed that from her, and in any case, he is attractive and strong and he is sturdy and he never stops surprising her, and this makes up for any lack of beauty he may have – after all, men are not required to be beautiful. She has to admit this – Marian has never been one to lie to herself – she finds him attractive. Very much so.

He's similar to Robert, and yet so different. Robert was honest and Robin lies. Robert worshipped her and Robin teases her.

And she likes it. That's the worst bit, the thing that draws her to him. Because he's like her, far too much so for comfort. And when he says "Ask me nicely," she wants to laugh, and it takes all her self control not to, because he is infuriating and aggravating and so much like herself. And it's been so long since she had someone close enough to her to be able to tease her.

For the first time in ten years, Marian has found a challenge.

And she loves it.

Author's Note: I know her name is spelled Marion in the movie, and I wrote it like that when I requested this category (my new fandom, though I'll still be doing Harry Potter when my internet doesn't die) but I always read about Maid Marian, and old habits die hard. I'll try to fix it later.
