A/N: I need to stop writing at 11 at night.. Why must my brain work in stupid ways! Oh well, enjoy at my brain's over spill of ideas.
Kyo heaved himself out of bed with a sigh. School. He hated that place. That word. Everyone inside; especially those girls. Why Yuki wanted to go there was beyond him. He grumbled to himself and pulled his school shirt over his head sleepily then reached for his trousers. He first pulled them on the wrong way around and ended up taking them off with an irritated groan. Yuki wasn't the only one that didn't wake up well in the mornings. Only Kyo could shake himself free of drowsiness a lot better than the rat could. Finally, he put them on the right way around, grabbed his bag and headed for the door.
"Kyo!" Trilled an ear-piercingly loud voice from the kitchen.
"What the hell do you want, Shigure?" He replied grumpily.
"Eat breakfast." He called again but Kyo stood firmly at the door making no signs of movement.
"No." He stated bluntly, his hand now reaching for the handle.
"But poor, sweet Tohru went to all the trouble of making such a delicious breakfast for us all."
"Oh! No! It's fine! It he's not hungry, don't force him to eat it!" Called out Tohru, also seated in the kitchen. Kyo's heart sunk and he trailed into the kitchen. Slamming himself down into his chair and making it blindly obvious that he was not happy with these circumstances. Tohru handed over breakfast and wolfed it down. Not because he was hungry, he was quite the opposite. No, it was because he didn't think he could bare Shigure's sly grin from across the table. As soon as he was done he threw his bowl into the sink and it landed with a clatter. He grabbed his bag once more and without even a moments pause he left. Quickly too because he didn't want to risk being held up again.
His journey to school was always one of his favourite moments. All the sounds of the forest come alive during that simple and short journey. It was one of the times he allowed his instincts to take over. The spirit of the cat that always clawed to be let out would finally be free. But only here. Some days he almost let it take over completely but he wasn't that stupid. There would always be a part of him left, the part that could easily be brought back to normality.
He used his heightened sense of hearing to his advantage. It kept him alert to the passers by who almost certainly would not be used to his strange morning customs. In general, however, he kept to the trees as he climbed with so much ease you could have sworn he was gliding. He jumped from branch to branch allowing himself to take in every scent and smell he could.
Today was different. Today was foggy. This, happened to be one Kyo's favourite weather types - unless it was wet fog. Not being able to see past the tip of his nose made the challenge more fun. Able to use his acute senses to their very best and succeeding? Well that was the amazing. He decided to run on this particularly day occasionally leaping onto the branches from over-hanging trees an swinging back down to the ground. He treasured this moment, this feeling of bliss. Even freedom.
As the school came into view he sighed once more. He didn't know how long this would last. Whether he could keep doing this or whether he'd be in the cage. Even if there ever came a time when nothing else was worth fighting for he would fight for these moments. For now, for now they'd be distractions. They would be bliss.
Short, but I like it. I hope you did too! Anyway, reviews mean the world to me!
See you later!
