Fanfiction for Dummies
Fanfic Hopefuls,
Yes, the answers are all here… Fanfiction for Dummies! Yes, you too can learn how to finally write your first fanfic. Fanfictions are fun to write, and easy to! What is a fanfition you ask? Fanfiction is fan labor regarding stories about characters or settings by fans of an original work. Most stories are amateur, and very rarely are they published.
Before you start writing though, you might want to brush up on some other FF's to get the gist of things.
To write a fanfiction, you need a fan fiction website. I use , which is widely known. You will need an account on most websites to post a story, so pick something people will remember. You will need an idea to write about, something unique and original. People easily get tired of an overused plot line. Once you have this, mix in book characters, and thus, a fanfiction is born!
Pick a memorable name! I remember to look at people's account, and how to find them, when they have weird names. Sometimes, you could even have a name that resembles a character. Like, ronOReds, or edwardNOTjacob. Some, though, might just be weird like, clear plastic, or vjgm. Even though these are cool names, I did not come up with them. They were created by other great fanfic writers.
To come up with an idea, you might want to sit and think about some "what if's". Maybe you had a weird thought during your reading of a book. What if Jasper killed Bella… or something like that. You could take that idea, and go into elaboration, and make a whole story out of that one question! There is a world of possibilities!
To pick a character from a book, pick a book you are very knowledgeable in, to get the character right. Some people will hate you if you mess up their favorite character too much. Don't get to far from the main point, or else the reader might get confused and stop reading.
When you are writing, you can switch point of views, widely known as POV, if you feel the need to. If you do, clearly state it as to not confuse the reader. Like, if it's Bob's point of view, you might put BPOV. It makes everything so much easier.
You might leave an after note if you feel the need to tell you reader anything extra, that isn't part of the story. But, don't pester them too much about reviews, or they might just get fed up.
When you publish the first part, write a good summary. Summaries are what draw the readers in and gets them interested. Don't just say, 'Bad at summaries. Srry. First fanfic!' Does that get you interested? Not me.
Ah, reviews; either a writer's highlight, or downfall. Writers might put 'R&R' for read and review. Reviews are split in two sections: 'cookies' and 'flames'. Cookies=good, flames=bad. Some people will like the story, some won't and this is where they tell you.
FF writing is so much fun, and easy too! So many people read fanfic, yours will be discovered if it's good enough. I hoped my tips helped, because they helped me a lot. So, go out and write!

A/N: R&R! Tell me if I helped you out! Reviews are welcomed, flames tolerated.
