- The Legend of Zelda: Cloak of Shadows -

Hyrule.

The land created by the Goddesses: Farore, Nayru, and Din.

Courage. Wisdom. Power.

What the Goddesses bestowed to the land could be used as a blessing, or as a curse.

Within this land, tales sought of a cloak of shadows which gave free passage throughout realms, to be unseen from the light and darkness.

The tale stretched to a band of thieves in the desert, searching for a powerful gain that remains locked away deep within the shadows.

To the naked eye, one could easily be fooled by the cloak as only shadows of the royalty can see it.

That is where this tale begins…

Sweat beaded on his forehead as Link tossed in his sleep. His eyes shut, still flickering from the thunderous roar of hooves beating against the solidity of the ground. It was deafening.

Wafts of the opaque shadow cloak appeared, much like heat waves from a burning fire as Links nightmare heightened with heavy imagery of an unmarked horseback rider being followed by minions of a darklord.

In the distance, smoke rose and fire leeched through an unidentifiable wooded location as the rider uttered a non-discernable incantation. The Shekiah eye weeping blood, and a glance to the arrow in the shoulder, to the creatures with red eyes, then the visionary of a saddle -as if something…..

Link opened his eyes to see nothing but the roof of his home, and the midnight sky with piercing white dots for stars. "It was only….. a dream?" He thought to himself.

The faint smell of wood burning was somewhat calming at first, until Link realized that this wasn't a part of the dream anymore.

Inar coughed as he packed Hadin with a few supplies and handed Sahjui an item in a brown paper bag. "This was given to me by my grandmother Sahjui, and you might need it on such a night to protect yourself." Sahjui looked down at the brown paper bag in despair as her wavy dark hair fell in front of her face.

Sahjui looked to him, yet said nothing. She pushed her hair back and opened the paper bag, revealing a dark face mask with a faint Shekiah symbol that fell to the breastplate on her as she adjusted the opening to the eyes, and mounted Hadin. She felt strong, but it wavered much like the uncertianty of the wind.

Inar muffled a cough as he handed her Cloak of Shadows, as she put on the cape. "Once you are within range of the castle walls you make sure you give the signal to the royal family and give the cloak to the…"

The conversation was cut short as Inar and Sahjui looked as a band of theives approached, shooting fire arrows. Inar thwarted his hand on Hadin, spooking him causing the horse to rear and Sahjui to panick, "Wait! No!" Sahjui grasped for the reigns as Hadin irratically rode off away from the danger. "Dad!" Sahjui yelled as her strength waivered, like an insecure daughter would do as such, for the need of protection from her father.

"Remember the prayer!" Inar yelled. The flames of fire soon caught the house that she knew for most of her life, as her father coughed and attempted fended off a horseback rider heading in her direction, as an echo down from the bluffs became the last discerable thing Inar heard.

"Dad!"
