"What did you say to them?" cho said curiously
"it was a complete over reaction, really..." Jane said. Cho just gave him a knowing look. He knew Jane better than that.
"I need to find a house for sale." Jane continued. If cho was the type to raise one eyebrow and question Jane until he had no voice left, he would have done that just then. But, Cho being Cho, it just wasn't his style.
"ok." Cho said, matter of factly.
The truth is, Cho knew more about people on the team than they think. He read every single one of the personnel files, including his own. Which is against the rules, but he wasn't always such a straight arrow. In fact, he isn't strictly one now. He did what he had to do to get the job done. Which is why he allowed Jane to ride with him.
Jane is a set of unusual eyes, and he solves cases quickly. He has the ability to see shades of gray, making the suspect's motives much clearer to him. Cho is more black and white, good and bad. There are no gray areas, its either good or bad. It can't be both. No exceptions
Jane is good. A bit disillusioned, but good. Jane says that they are the disillusioned, but to each his own. Cho's not going to argue with a professional con. Like mentioned before, black and white. Cho likes to do his business straight forward, it is what it is. Take it or leave it. Which is why Jane should get on Cho's nerves.
Instead, Jane is like fresh air. He solves cases, puts bad guys away. That's good enough. Hopefully, one day it will be good enough for Patrick Jane. Maybe one day, he will be satisfied with what he has now, instead of what he has lost.
Yeah, and maybe one day Cho will burst out laughing in the office. It's not likely, and the point is it's not likely that Jane will change. He believes that killing Red John will give him peace. He believes that he can go on after that. He won't, it will never be good enough. Because he will never forgive and forget Red John. And you won't find peace if you're holding a grudge. It's the way it is.
But Cho does like Jane. He is smart, and he knows it. He has charisma, and uses it every chance he gets. He's the face that makes people want to tell the truth. And most of all: he is a friend. Someone Cho cares about, and he protects the people he cares about. Always. It doesn't matter who they were, or what they do now. Jane is good. And that's good enough
