AN; I have read some hilarious drabbles recently, and thought I'd try my hand at them. I don't get ideas very often, but I thought I'd see what people thought of them anyway. I don't even know if this is short enough to be even CALLED a drabble... anyway, here goes!
Merlin was picking herbs for Gaius one eerily foggy morning. Alone in the forest with only his horse for company, he began to get a strange feeling; one that said he was being watched. Suddenly, he heard a twig snap behind him. Whirling around to avoid danger, he bolted upright and tensed.
A fluffy white bunny rabbit hopped out of the bushes, wiggled his nose and whiskers, and twitched his left ear at Merlin before continuing on its way, sniffing for edible vegetation for breakfast. Merlin laughed at himself for being scared of a rabbit and turned back to his task.
Not two minutes later, he heard branches rustling. Again, he whirled around, the feeling having never left him.
The bunny's baby was sitting between two bushes, having gotten lost in the vain attempt to keep up with its mother. Soon, it, too, left to follow the scent of its parent.
Merlin returned to his task once again, cursing his nerves and his knack for attracting trouble. His basket full, he was not surprised to hear the crinkle of a tread over dried leaves. Knowing he had escaped danger much too easily the first two times, he expected the clichéd bandits to attack. Or, maybe, his wandering mind said, whoever it is will be more original. Like… like a minotaur. But don't be silly, Merlin. They don't exist. That's just a myth; a fairytale to scare the children. Ha! You really are just looking for danger, aren't you? And with that, he turned to his horse and tied the basket to his saddle. Swinging onto his mount, he jumped a little when he heard the crinkling coming from directly beneath him.
Hesitantly looking down, he saw… a… gecko – a simple, green and brown, insect eating… gecko. Merlin rolled his eyes. Yup. Just looking for trouble. That's me! He thought, and had a remarkably uneventful ride back to Camelot.
Review, please! I do have an idea for another one, but I don't know if it's worth writing. (Hint, hint) So tell me what you think!
