You'd never know
That this boy was a hero:
He eats too much
And sleeps too much
And can never be on time.
But it is he, you know—
That when things explode
And people scream
And tears pray for life—
That saves the day.
It's he that makes things right.
You'd never know

He complains too much
And is cocky too much
And his head is not always clear.

And people faint
And hearts hope for life—

He's just another boy—
One who smiles a lot
And cheers a lot
And has a heart full of light.
O, sometimes I wish that it would be
What other people thought they knew!
That he was just another boy—
One who laughs a lot
And plays a lot
And has no care in the world!
But then where would we be?
You'd never know,
Not ever—
That this boy,
My friend—
Was a hero to all humanity.
And even if he couldn't be
That one surprising hero
He'd still be one to me.
After all, what are best friends for?
