When Nikki woke up one cold morning in the middle of December she was conscious that she was the only one in the bed, she normally woke up in the arms of her lover of six months. She opened her eyes and glanced over her shoulder but was disappointed to see that Harry wasn't there with her. Yawning, she sat up and looked around the room for any indication that Harry was still around but everything was as they had left it the night before, apart from the fact that their clothes, that were haphazardly scattered around the room the previous evening, were now in the washing bin on the other side of the room. Smiling to herself Nikki stood up and grabbed her dressing gown from the chair next to Harry's bed and slipped it on, most of her clothes had made their way into Harry's room and he had joked that he needed a larger wardrobe just for her clothes alone. Nikki then walked downstairs and expected to see Harry pottering around in the kitchen before work but was once again disappointed to find the downstairs level empty apart from her, she knew Harry had to work today but she didn't but she had at least expected a kiss before he had left or even a note but there wasn't one. She walked through to the kitchen and at once spotted something on the table in front of her. A grin lit up her face when she saw two white Lilys, her favourite flower, and two notes under them, reaching out she picked them both up and then reached for the notes as well. Her eyes filled with tears when she read what was written on the cards and her smile grew even more as she re-read it and she let out a watery chuckle. One read 'For my best friend' the other read 'For the woman I love'.

Sickeningly cheesy I know but I just had to write it after I read the two quotes in bold, the plot bunny just wouldn't leave me alone. XD
