A drum beat filled the school auditorium and there were people dancing and talking at every turn. I fiddle with the hem of my dress. It was a knee-length lilac purple strapless dress with a pink flower on a small ribbon around the waist. My hair was all fluffed and curled. And I absolutely hated it.

Earlier this evening I came home from school and ran straight into Whitney, who had been standing in front of the door waiting to torture me and make me go to the stupid school dance. I was about to turn and leave thinking I had been there long enough that Whitney would be satisfied when I saw Ben Blue leaning against the wall with his head down.

I walked over to him. "Hi," I yelled over the music and people. He snapped his head up and jumped when he heard my voice and then saw me.

"H..hi. I didn't expect to see you here."

"Like wise."

"Do you want to dance?"

"Sure." And the night was officially perfect.

I was laying on the beach with my eyes closed in my swimsuit perfectly peaceful, when all of a sudden sand was thrown on my bare stomach. I shot up and turned to see Hi, Shelton, and Ben all looking at me terrified.

"Who threw the sand." Shelton and Ben pointed at Hi. Of course. I got up and brushed the sand off before looking up at Hi with a death glare. "You're DEAD Hiram." He began to run across the beach screaming and I chased after him, the guys laughing behind us.

I laid back and looked up at the stars in the night sky. I wrapped my arms around the waist of my sleeping girlfriend and she curled into my side farther. I smiled as a shooting star crossed over head and I wished that everyday could be like this one. Perfect.

But mostly she couldn't believe she had ignored Ben's warnings. And she couldn't believe she had ignored his obvious love for her and hurt him more than Jason had and could ever hurt her.

That was why she cried.
