Summary: Basically AU, Mali runs away from his home in Egypt, to end up in Domino, Japan.

Malik Ishtar frowned at the cold stone walls of his room, empty of any and all sentiments. Now glaring, he turned back to the task at hand, a backpack lying open on his small bed, halfway filled with what few personal items he had. Finishing a few minutes later, he stuffs a small amount of money into his pocket.

My black backpack's stuffed with broken dreams

20 bucks should get me through the week

Never said a word of discontentment

Fought it a thousand times but now

I'm leaving home

He exited the underground tunnels triumphantly; smirking as the sunlight hit his skin for the second time in his memory. Glancing off to the west he smiled almost sadly, before walking east, towards the Nile, and, according to the maps he had hidden, Cairo, and a chance at a new life. He finds himself growing tired well into the night, and sets his bag down as he sits for a minute.

Here in the shadows

I'm safe

I'm free

I've nowhere else to go but

I cannot stay where I don't belong

He smiled into the night sky, looking up at the stars that seemed to defy its darkness. "Yes, they are the lights that gives the night it's wonderful shadows.." He mused, closing his eyes to a cold wind.

Two months pass by and it's getting cold

I know I'm not lost

I am just alone

But I won't cry

I won't give up

I can't go back now

Waking up is knowing who you really are

He looked up, seeing a familiar face approaching him in the crowded streets. "Rishid.." The said man nodded, and with a smile pulled Malik into an alley. "What are you doing here?" "We were worried about you, alik. And I decided to find you, and stay with you, since I know you won't be coming back home." Malik smiled. "Ah, you know me so well." The two waited until after dark, before traveling through the city, and towards the habor.

Here in the shadows

I'm safe

I'm free

I've nowhere else to go but

I cannot stay where I don't belong

Here in the shadows

I'm safe

I'm free

I've nowhere else to go but

I cannot stay here oh

As the small boat, yacht the man had called it, pulled into its new harbor, Malik smiled somewhat coldly. Their new home for now, Domino, Japan, had no idea what it was in for. Rishid walked up behind him silently. "Rishid, the next half of our new life will begin here." "Yes, Master Malik."

Show me the shadow where true meaning lies

So much more dismay in empty eyes
