Me: *sighs*

Chapter 1: Darkness

"I got you!"

"M-My hand's slipping!"

"No! Josh, hold on!"

"I-I can't!"

"No! Josh!"

"Help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..."

SPLASH!

'Ugh...Where... am I?'

'I can't...'

'Slipping off...'

The Pokemon fell over, unconscious once again.

An Eevee was pacing around outside a Wigglytuff-shaped tent.

"Hmm..."

The Eevee got back the center and shook her head. "No. I refuse to be paralyzed by this any longer! This is it. Today, I'm going to be brave." The Eevee stepped forward onto a grate, only to nearly jump backwards.

"Pokemon detected! Pokemon detected!"

"Whose footprint? Whose footprint?"

"The footprint is Eevee's! The footprint is Eevee's!"

The Eevee jumped back. "Wah! That shocked me!" They than looked down. "Whew..." The Eevee's ears fell slightly. "...I can't... I can't bring myself to go in. I vowed that I would do it today, but..." The Eevee placed a rock in front of them. "I thought holding on to my personal treasure would inspire me..." The Eevee picked the rock up again and shook their head. "Sigh... I just can't do it. I'm such a coward... This is so discouraging..." The Eevee turned around and walked off.

Beach, Eevee's POV

I walked onto the sand, before looking up at the sky. "Wow! What a beautiful sight!" There were bubbles floating through the air. "When the weather's good, the Krabby come out at sundown to blow bubbles... All those bubbles, reflecting the setting sun off the waves... It's always beautiful." I sat there in silence for a bit. "...This is where I always come when I'm feeling down on myself. But it makes me feel good to be here, like always. Coming here heals my spirits." I looked to the side. "Hey... what's that? What's going on over there?" I walked over, before skidding to a stop. "Waah! Someone has collapsed on the sand!" I ran up to him.

?'s POV

"What happened?! Are you OK?"

'…...'

'...Ugh...'

I got up, clenching my forehead. "You're awake! Thank goodness!" I looked around, barely noticing an Eevee step away from me. 'Where... where am I?' I looked towards the Eevee. "You wouldn't move at all. I was really scared for you! Do you have any idea how you ended up unconscious out here?" 'I... I was unconscious? What happened..?' "Anyway, I'm Eevee. Happy to meet you! And who are you? I don't think I've seen you around before." I didn't know why I could understand this Eevee, but I went ahead and talked to them anyway. "What? You say you're a human? You look like a totally normal Shinx to me!" I got confused and looked at myself, before jumping back in surprise. 'It's... It's true! I've turned into a Shinx! ...But how did this happen? I...' I jumped back in fright. 'I don't remember anything!' My heart started to beat wildly. "You're... a little odd..." Started Eevee. "Are you pulling some kind of trick on me?" I shook my head frantically, trying to make Eevee believe me. "You're telling me the truth? OK, how about your name? What's your name?" 'I literally just said I couldn't remember anything, but...' I thought for a second, before nodding. 'Josh. My name's definitely Josh.' "Josh. My name's Josh." I said, breathing a sigh of relief that I COULD remember something. "So you're named Josh? OK. Well, you don't seem to be a bad Pokemon, at least. Sorry that I doubted you. More and more bad Pokemon have been turning up lately! A lot of Pokemon have gotten aggressive. It's just not safe anymore... But, don't you already know this?" I was about to say something, but cut myself off when I noticed two shady Pokemon approaching. "Watc-" The two Pokemon knocked Eevee backwards, causing both of us to fly towards rock. "Yowch!" Eevee yelped.

"Well, I do beg your pardon."

"Hey! Why'd you do that?!" Eevee yelled. I cautiously stepped back.

"Heh heh heh! Can't figure it out? We wanted to mess with you! Can't face up to us, can you?!"

Eevee stepped back as I stepped beside her. There was NO way I was going to let some bullies hurt someone. "Wh-What?!" Eevee asked. "That's YOURS, isn't it?" The Zubat asked, looking towards a rock that had fallen from Eevee's grasp. This surprised Eevee. "Oh! That's..!" "Sorry, kiddo. We'll take that!" The Zubat picked it up, and I ran at him. "That's not your's! Give it back!" This only ended with me being actually flung into the rock. "Aaaah!" Eevee yelled. "Whoa-ho-ho! Not going to make a move to get that back? What's the matter? Too scared? I didn't expect that you'd be SUCH a big coward!" The Koffing looked at the Zubat. "Come on. Let's get out of here." "See ya around, chicken. Heh-heh-heh." The Zubat said, before starting to fly away. In one last attempt, I sprung at him, only to be knocked away again. Eevee's ears fell. I know had fresh blood trickling down my back. "...Ohhh..." The Eevee started to cry. "Wh-What should I do?" I looked towards her, trying to ignore the pain. "That's my personal treasure. It means everything to me. If I lose that..." I patted her back. "Don't worry. I'll help you get it back." She looked up at me. "R-Really? B-But you're injured, and..." I shook my head. "No. Those bullies deserve to be taught a lesson." She nodded. "Y-Yeah... I just don't want you to hurt yourself! A-And you said you were a human, so..." She shook her head. "No. You're offering to me, so who am I to refuse. Let's go!" I nodded, and we started to follow the two Pokemon.
