"Say cheese!"Ordered the overly eager photographer

Finn stared down at Quinn then tried to mimic her 'on top of the world expression' but failed miserably. He could barely manage an awkward smile whereas Quinn grinned from ear to ear. She had every reason to after all she looked gorgeous in her blue silk dress, had Finn Hudson on her arm and was a shoe in for Homecoming Queen. Life was perfect... at least it was for Quinn.

Finn had never been so depressed. Truly, in all his life he'd never felt so bummed out. Quinn had literally sucked all the fun out of prom what with her constantly calling to coordinate outfit colours and snarling whenever his attention drifted. It wasn't his fault he didn't find it important whether they wore teal or aqua, in fact he couldn't tell you what the difference was.

"Finn will you try and smile." Quinn gritted through her unwavering smile

Regaining his attention Finn tried wholeheartedly to smile well. Once they were done with all the photo's Finn led Quinn to a table. Finn sat down and tried to lighten up. 'C'mon man' he thought inwardly 'You're here with Quinn Fabray... smile-this is how it's supposed to be.' Nosooner had he thought it when he realised that this wasn't how it was supposed to be, he was supposed to be here with Rachel. If he hadn't slept with Santana and pushed Rachel away he'd be spending tonight with her. Finn shook his head as if to dispel the thoughts. How could he be thinking this? It wasn't fair on Quinn. He couldn't help it though.

He looked across the dance floor and saw a lot of pink giggling and jumping up and down. Finn's heart sank as he realised who was wearing the pink dress- none other than Rachel. She was having a ball with Sam and everyone else by the looks of it. 'Stop staring!' screamed the voice inside his head but Finn couldn't help it. He was still in love with Rachel.

A slow song came on and Quinn led a reluctant Finn to the dance floor. Finn hated dancing because he had two left feet and he couldn't even be subtle and disappear in the crowd because he was so tall. Finn noticed Rachel separate from her group with a guy at the same time. He had to twist his neck to see who it was. A jolt of anger shot through Finn when he saw who it was- Jesse St James.

"Ow!" grouched Quinn "Finn, don't squeeze my hand so hard!"

"Sorry!" apologised Finn, immediately is loosening his grip. St James still annoyed him more than he could ever express without going to jail for it.

Finn swayed along with Quinn half-heartedly. Seeing Jesse and Rachel hold one another made Finn feel sick. Rachel was his, or had been rather. Now she was moving on; or were they just going round in circles? Is it too late for things to be the way they should be?
