The Mayor had stepped out of their house. They felt like they had been asleep for a long time, but hadn't they just gone to sleep?
They took a look around and was shocked to see that the town had been overrun by weeds, and that it was spring. They had went to sleep when it was summer.
They walked around confused and trying to think of answers. They eventually found one of the townspeople. They walked up to them but the animal talked first. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" they exclaimed, "EVERYONE HAD THOUGHT YOU HAD MOVED, YOU CAN'T JUST DISAPPEAR FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS AND NOT TELL ANYONE!"..."you look surprised… huh?" The Mayor looked around frantically and had ran off.
As they ran to the townhall they saw new houses and no houses in the places of where their friends used to live. They also saw new faces and old friends, that, as they ran by, gave him surprised or confused looks. One even tried to call out to them.
When they finally got to the town hall after a lot of stares and surprised looks, they opened the door calmly. When they went inside Isabell didn't even look up when the door opened. She looked like her old self but a lot more tired.
When they walked up to her desk she took a quick glance at them, and looked back down. It took her a second, (it was probably because of how tired she was) but she finally realized who was in front of her.
She stood up quickly, her tail started wagging, her eyes grew wide, and so did her smile. Instead of rambling on about how mad or tired she was like The Mayor thought, she ran around the desk as fast as her legs would take her and wrapped The Mayor up in a hug. After about a minute of her hugging and mumbling things like "I'm so glad your back" and, "Things have been rough without you" she let go sheepishly. "Sorry…" she said embarrassed "That was very unprofessional" The Mayor knew they somehow had to make this up to her. They gestured her to follow them. Isabell, with a confused face, obeyed.
As they walked to the destination Isabell rambled on about how things had been while The Mayor was gone. She stopped talking when she realized where they were going. The Mayor was walking down the slope to the beach. They turned around and gave Isabell a sad smile as if to say "I'm sorry" They both walked down to the edge of the water and sat down silently enjoying the warm sun and the sound of the ocean.
