Sally Mine
Charlie awoke to his baby sister's crying. The four-year-old toddler climbed out of bed and went to check in on Sally, his six-month-old sister. "Sally, are you okay?" he asked, only to hear his sister's loud crying.
Charlie slowly opened the door to his sister's room, grabbed the stepstool and picked her up from her crib. The toddler looked at his baby sister before he walked over to the rocking chair, wiped the tears that trickled down her little eyes and began to sing to her:
"Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part
Baby of mine"
Baby Sally's hazelnut eyes began to flutter as her brother continued singing:
"Little one, when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear
Baby of mine."
Sally yawned a little as Charlie stroked her blonde, frizzy hair:
"If they knew
Sweet little you,
They'd end up
Loving you too
All the same people who scold you
What they'd give just for the right to hold you"
Charlie Brown stopped rocking his baby sister as he helped her back in her crib, singing the last verse of his favorite lullaby:
"From your head
Down to your toes
You're not much
Goodness knows
But you're so special to me
Sweet as can be
Baby of mine."
"I love you, Sally." Little Charlie Brown whispered as he let his baby sister sleep.
