[1] The Poem for Everyone's Souls

[2] Tokyo Daylight

Ruby could hardly wait for the next round of the Vytal Festival. Her friends, Penny and Pyrrha, and her beloved older sister, Yang, were in the running and she had the highest hopes for them. Though, the night before the beginning of the next round…

[1]

Ruby lifts her eyes and finds herself inside of, what appears to be, a custom Bullhead. The inside was well decorated, almost excessively so, and had an eerie, yet somehow calming, blue theme. She can't see anything out of the window, except for the passing clouds. She turns her head back towards the front of the vehicle, and sees, what she assumes to be, a man with a strangely long nose, which reminded Ruby of a bird's beak. The man sat behind a small table and had his arms resting on it. Off to the right of the table sat a little girl, who Ruby could swear wasn't any older than eleven.

The man lets out a small chuckle.

"Well now, it seems that our guest has an interesting fate awaiting her. Welcome to the Velvet Room. My name is Igor. We are delighted to make your acquaintance. This room lies between reality and dream, mind and matter. It is only open to those bound by a certain contract. Perhaps such a fate awaits you in the near future. Now, why don't you introduce yourself?"

"Um, I'm Ruby. Ruby Rose"

"I see. Well, Ms. Rose, shall we take a look into your future?"

Ruby was confused. First with the room, then Igor, and now telling the future? Until he placed several cards onto the table in front of him.

"Let's see. The Tower in the upright position represents the immediate future. It seems a disaster is imminent. As for what lies beyond, the Chariot in the upright position. This card represents victory and determination. How intriguing. It seems as though a period of disaster is poised to strike, and that determination and courage is required to survive it. In the coming months, you will enter a strange contract, and we will meet again afterwards. Remember, if you do not overcome the coming trials, then all in your world will be forfeit. Don't worry, because it is my duty to assist our guests. After all, all I want is to ensure your success."

"Excuse me, but may I ask who she is?" Ruby asks, gesturing to the little girl.

"Ah, I apologize. I had forgotten to introduce my assistant. She is Lavenza, she resides here alongside me."

"Hello, Ms. Rose. I will help you and my master in every way I can."

"Now, the details can be attended to at a different time. Until we meet again, Ms. Ruby Rose. Farewell."

Ruby hears a faint alarm and blinks. When her eyes open again, she's in her bed. Her teammates weren't there. They must have had an earlier start than usual.

"What was with that dream? And why can I remember it so clearly?" Ruby asked herself.

"Ruby, what did you say?" a refined voice from the bathroom asked.

Oh yeah, Weiss took forever and a day to get ready in the morning. Ruby just sighed, assuming that Yang was getting some practice in and needed Blake to help.

"It was just a weird dream, Weiss! Nothing to worry about."

"If you say so."

Ruby carefully climbs out of the ramshackle top bunk and begins her day as she normally would. Though, the memory of the Velvet Room refused to leave her be, and she would soon learn why.

AN: I'm back, baby! First off, I want to apologize for never updating any of my previous stories. And for suddenly removing damn near all of 'em. Well, truth be told, I made them on a whim when I was dumber. But I'm in college now, and I feel more mature. So, to keep myself from biting off more than I can chew, I'll use this to post random oneshots whenever inspiration strikes me. I can't guarantee consistent updates, but I'll try not to let updates be to far apart. Anyway, thanks for reading, don't forget to drop a review (please be honest, I can handle a bit of criticism), and please have a wonderful day.
