This wasn't what I imagined I would be. A beautiful castle that stood where a small bungalow that a family shared. My marble halls were filled with chatter and happiness that not even Isolt could imagine.
As my fame sounded across the country, my walls grew and grew. First a welcoming hall, with a large Gordian knot at the center. Then I grew a wand hall where children could safely pick a wand - there could never be too much security when wands were chosen, after all.
Classroom after classroom grew next to welcoming hall. The first tower rose to the east where Astronomy could be taught closer to the sky. Another tower rose to the west to be closer to the mountain tops.
My ceilings became floors as I continued to grow higher and higher. Each new floor had more classrooms better suited for specific studies. I grew a dinner hall and teacher offices.
The year I carved out marble statues of Isolt and James to remind students that anything was possible with determination and ambition, I also grew bathrooms and bedrooms for the students. I gave the children a place to rest their head after a long day of learning. I gave them a safe environment.
I grew statues of the House's in the entrance hall the year before Chadwick died to keep the knowledge of sorting from being lost. The statues of each animal lights up for the students worthy of their house. It's not the Legiliments that they had used, but it worked. It sorted many promising students into their Houses when they stepped on the beautiful Gordian knot.
I swell with pride every time new students arrive. I may have been a bungalow when I was nothing more than a dream in Isolt's heart, but I became so much more.
I became a beautiful castle with towers and study halls and a kitchen. I became a home for students with magic. I have stood the test of time, and I would never crumble. I became a Gordian knot myself; not easily undone.
