One Song Glory

Brock had his bags packed and he was ready to go. He left his suitcases by the front door and took a last glance around the house. He wanted just one last look at the place he'd called home for 20 years. God, he was going to miss this place.

~One song
Glory
One song
Before I go
Glory
One song to leave behind~

"You ready to leave, Brock?" Reba's sharp Southern accent said. Even after the ordeal with Barbara Jean, he still loved Reba's voice. It had many shades, like a rainbow, a soft, sweet violet when she sang, and a harsh, sharp red when she yelled.
And soon, he would only hear that voice when he came to pick up his kids.

One last refrain
Glory
From the pretty-boy front man
Who wasted opportunity~

"You gonna miss me, Reba?" he asked.
"Miss the man you were? Yeah. Miss the man you became? No."
"…I thought so, Reba," he said. "But tell me, just what didn't you like about me?"

"You became arrogant, Brock. You felt like you ran the world. And a marriage is a two-way street."

"I…see."

~One song
He had the world at his feet.
Glory
In the eyes of a young girl

Find glory
Beyond the cheap colored lights~

"It's getting late," Reba said after awhile. "It's almost night. Shouldn't you be at home with Barbara Jean?"

"Yeah, I suppose I should," Brock said, but he didn't move.

~One song,
Before the sun sets
Glory, on another empty life
Time flies

Time dies
Glory, one blaze of glory
One blaze of glory-glory~

"I…I'll miss you, Reba."

"I'll miss you too, Brock. Deep down, I still love you."

"Yeah…so do I."

~Find glory
In a song that rings true
Truth like a blazing fire
An eternal flame
Find one song,
A song about love

From the soul of a young man

"Barbara Jean's waiting for me," Brock said after a silence. "Good-bye, Reba."

"Good-bye, Brock."

Brock picked up his suitcases and, with one final glance back, walked out the door.

He looked up into the orange and red sky as the sun set. Barbara Jean was waiting for him. He would make good on his promise to live his new life with her to the fullest.

The one song,
Before the virus takes hold
Glory
Like a sunset
One song
To redeem this empty life
Time flies~

He walked towards his car, loaded his suitcases in the back, and drove away.

~And then, no need to endure anymore,
Time dies~

Well, this is my second Reba fic! Do you like?
