"Galen?" I call out. "What day is it?" I feel like it is an important day. Like I shouldn't have forgotten about something.

Galen pokes his head in the bathroom. "It's not that time...right? You know."

I laugh. "You always get so squeamish, it's cute. But no, Galen. It's something different. Like important but sad."

Galen looks thoughtfully at me. "Important and sad? Let me think. Maybe a birthday? Rachel's birthday was week ago. Your dad's passed but what about Chloe's?"

Tears fill my eyes immediately. "Yeah," I swallow. "That's it. I'm a terrible person. I couldn't even remember my best friends birthday." I start to cry.

Galen looks at me. He bites his lip almost like he's unsure of what to do or say. He wraps his arms around me and I bury my face in his chest.

"I couldn't even save her," I say. "I can communicate with fish and I couldn't even save her, Galen. I'm so useless."

Galen doesn't say anything. It must be my fault. It must be. He isn't saying anything because it is my fault. All my fault...

"So it is my fault," I whisper.

Galen shakes me gently. "No. Emma don't blame yourself. You did nothing. You are a good person. You tried. You didn't even know you could talk to sea creatures. Don't blame yourself."

I blink back my tears and stare at the ceiling. My eyes are tired. I can hardly keep them open. I feel myself falling asleep again Galen's chest. He chuckles and whispers, "I love you, Emma," but I'm to far along to reply.

I wake up in bed alone. "Galen?"

I hear hurried footsteps in the hall. Galen walks through the door with a scowl gracing his face. "I leave you for a minute and in that minute you decide to regain consciousness." I roll my eyes. Now that Galen has been going to college, he's been learning new words. It my immense displeasure and happiness,he tries to use it often.

"Yes, Galen. I totally did it to spite you."

He pouts. Gosh, he's cute. "I knew it."

I strech my arms over my head. "When is Toraf going to visit?"

He shrugs. "Righabout-" a figure appears in the door frame."Now."

Toraf glare at Galen from the door. "Not cool, Minnow. You stole my thunder."

I laugh. "You have been watching too many movies."

"That's basically all that Rayna and I do. We were think about a movie day, today."

I shake my head. Before I can say anything Galen replies. "We are going to the cemetery today. But we'll be back later. Then we can start."

The first thing I smell before we even enter our house is burnt popcorn. Oh dear. I exchange looks with Galen.

"At least the house is still standing."

I laugh. "True. But maybe we lock the house when we leave. No problem then."

Galen smiles. "Rayna would be pissed. So let's no- or maybe we should do that."

Galen pulls me close to him. He kisses me for a long time. He moves his lips to me ear. "We can tell them to leave if you don't want company. It will be just you and me in the bedroom." he adds with a wink.

"No, I'm fine. I'd actually love more people."

Galen pouts. "Maybe you just don't want to have alone time with me."

I laugh. "I love you."

He kisses my nose. "I love you too."
