Hi guys. This is my first try for a long time writing something that isn't Tolkien at all. Dragon Quest has had a special place in my heart for about five years now, and I've finally gotten my thoughts in order enough to write something for the tiny little fandom. Over in the Lord of the Rings fandom, I've been working on something called the one hundred-drabble challenge, which I thought would be a good way to get me into writing for Dragon Quest. These are different prompts than the ones for the LotR fandom, though, because those prompts are specifically designed for LotR.
There won't be much romance or anything in these, with the exception of Kiryl and Alena, who are my OTP. Both the male and the female protagonists will appear in these, although not simultaneously. I've also chosen, for the most part, to use the remake versions of the character and location names, simply because the remakes are what got me into Dragon Quest. I hope that these drabbles will play a part in making this fandom a tiny bit more active. Anyway, thank you for reading, and please leave a review! And, if one of my LotR friends reads this, and has no clue what is going on, maybe they will leave a review anyway. ;-)
#1: Introduction
"You're the hero."
Meena dropped his hand, drawing back. "You're the hero," she repeated. "The promised hero."
The young man before her certainly had the air of someone special; his above-average height, his noble demeanor, his gentle face. But she had needed to touch his hand first; she had been forced to read his palm before she could tell that he was the hero. How could she have not seen it? He was most obviously…
"...is Solo."
Meena blinked. "I'm sorry?"
"My name is Solo, if that helps you at all," he said. "But I can't be a hero. Not now."
His voice was shaking. Meena didn't know why it was, or what had brought them together, but without hesitation, she reached out, taking his hand for the second time.
"You can be," she said. "My name is Meena, and I am here to help."
