Wow my first marching band season is almost over. I'm using this "story" to reflect on my first marching band experience. Lets go on back into the back to when I first stepped into the highschool band room. I was a terrified angry fresh meat ( oops I mean freshman). I was scared because of all the stereotypes no usually I'm above listening to stupid stereotypes but I let my imagination get the better of me. I was also angry I in no way wanted to do marching band, I am a concert band girl. So I wasn't to pleasant to anyone especially my mom. I truly regret that but again I was terrified. That first day was pardon my language hell. I was rudley awaken I hate the heat (oops I mean "cold" tell you a little later about that) I enjoy hiding out in my room. I already was the "laughing stock" because I nearly fainted because of low blood sugar (no I did not lock my knee's I learned THAT lesson from a whole different thing) luckily my drum majors and some others were quick to help. But I heard someone saying "what a stupid freshmen, at least we get a small break" It was my first day and I didn't know he wasn't being serious, I was so used to being bullied I thought this would be the same thing as middle school. I'll be honest, that night I cried myself to sleep. The next day we got our music like ten songs and the three show pieces and was told "you have a month to memorize it go." It was around the end of the first week I started opening up a little bit I realized I was not getting out of it so I might as well enjoy it. In the time I was at band camp I learned several things; 1. Marching Band kids are REALLY perverted 2. There is no such thing as one more time 3. Bring lots of water and sunscreen band directors are not too sympathetic to you when you have a horrid sunburn ( luckily It didn't happen to me) and 4. Your band is your new family treat them as such
Well that was my band camp experience in a short. Next chapter I will talk about uniforms and football games
Love you all, Fancygirl229
