Sonne Sedai had grown unused to leading her warder. She enjoyed their walks, side by side, but now he followed or scouted ahead, more conscious of his duty. Sonne knew how her Blue sisters felt about her situation with Johnethan. It was hard treating him as just a warder when in the White Tower, but it must be done.

Like many of her Ajah, Sonne was a wanderer, called to fulfill her purpose. She felt a deep conviction; her purpose was clearly to heal those injured. She'd just been raised to full Aes Sedai status before leaving somewhat scandalously (by then the Greens proudly acknowledged Johnethan as her lover and approved of the secret marriage), but there were people to be helped, regardless of what the other Blues thought.

I'd just as soon rather not return to Tar Valon. Despite my loyalty to it... people are dying. I feel it here, though.

Sonne turned to Johnethan.

"Someone is dying here."

Johnethan grew more cautious. He knew better than she about the inner workings of the tower, and the way women dealt with each other. Add the One Power to that, and women's behavior could become deadly.

Sonne nodded gracefully to Johnethan.

"I will announce myself."

Regally, she held out the rings on her fingers to the guard. While her confidence was still a facade, her pride in what the rings represented was not: her duties.

It has been quite a while. Will they recognize me? I've been trained so well, at least I will never forget our ways.

Johnethan gave a nod of encouragement-- he knows I'd prefer a kiss, in any other situation as she stepped up to the gates, expecting to be received by a guard...
