Victoria Shackelford was a 4th year student at Hogwarts. She was on the Gryiffindor Quidditch team (a Beater, since George decided to transfer to a Chaser.) and she was dating Fred Weasley. She only had one problem, the new game season was coming up, and she was running for Captain. Oliver Wood had been captain since his 3rd year, and she stood no chance against him. Although Oliver had been her best friend since childhood, the competition was still great. Quidditch had never had a girl captain.

It was a few days before the try-outs and Vicki (as she was affectionately called by Fred) was more stressed out for it than she was for her Herbology test she had coming up.

"I really hate this book," she mumbled to herself. She was studying in the Gryiffindor common room, which was totally empty. Fred and Ron came into the room, talking about England's Quidditch team's last match against Argentina.

"Charlie really should have went on to play for them, you know. They could have won with him on the team!", Ron complained. Charlie Weasley had been on the Quidditch team in his years at Hogwarts, but had gone on to Dragon studying after school ended. Fred spotted Victoria and left his brother's side. He saw that she was studying, so he snuck up behind her.

"Allo love!" Fred whispered in her ear and gave her a kiss on the cheek. They had been dating since her 2nd year. They were one of the more lovey- dovey couples at Hogwarts. They were both funny and loved to play jokes.

A smile spread over Vicki's face," Finally, something to take my mind off of these books!" She turned around and gave him a kiss.

"Are you up for a walk?", she said, standing and smoothing her grey skirt down.

"Sure thing. I need some fresh air. All this talk about Quidditch is making me want to go outside," he answered, taking her hand and leading her out of the common room and through the picture on the wall. They made their way through the Great Hall, turning down games of chess offered by their friends.

"So do you have anything planned for today?", Vicki asked.

"Follow you around like a lost puppy, and you?"

"Wood and I might have a small Quidditch practice later on. He says I need to work on where I aim my bludgers," she blushed, "I always get them way out of bounds."

"Yea, but you knock the snot out of them!" Fred replied, he was trying to make her feel better.

"That doesen't help when I can't hit them in the right direction!", she laughed.

"Even Wood has room for improvement. He always manages to get knocked out," Fred joked.

"And so do I! I hope to beat Wood out for captain this season," she confessed. Fred had an excited look on his face. He always supported her on whatever she decided.

"You can do it. I can certainly see you being captain!"

"I can't, really, Wood has had the position for too long. I don't know if everyone else will go for the idea of a new captain. Especially a girl," she sighed. Victoria was just as good as Oliver, but she needed a little work.

"So? Times change you know," Fred declared, "I mean, who says you can't be captain? Oliver doesen't rule Gryffindor!"

"Well, I think I have a good chance, just not as good as his," she said, looking down at her feet.

"Why? You're just as good as him and you know it," Fred said, putting his arm around her.

"I wish," she sighed, "but he's taught me everything I know."
