A quick drabble from Tumblr asking a question: what if Optimus Prime was a Green Lantern?

Blue optics shuttered, flickered, and a palm extended out as something small and glowing bright as the Allspark alighted upon his palm

And a light within him, a voice to his spark, and life into his frame as the voice of the ancients echoed within.

"Orion Pax of Cybertron.

"Know that you are worthy. Know that the greatest of all powers is entrusted unto you, and that you are mighty enough to do what is right with it."

He looked, and beheld a ring. Glowing with an emerald light, like a tiny star.

"Should courage falter, fear will unmake the world."

Around him, there was the screaming and sthe shouting, the riots fading into a single noise of pain, of misery. Of fear.

"Should will be surrendered, tyranny will conquer all."

And he had seen that, hadn't he? Seen his friend, the gladiator, fall to the rage and the hate inside, his frame rusting with the desire for power greater than his drive for self-determination of all Cybertronians.

"Should heroism fall and the knowing of what makes a being a being be lost, all the universe will fall before the hatred of those whose very hearts are deception."

And he remembered, didn't he? The beginning of their race. When the Quintessons had found Cybertron and discovered the Thirteen, and created a race of machines to be sold as consumer products. When they had created sapient lives, and saw only slaves. Orion Pax had been born to slavery, saw his people knowing nothing but toil and obedience and nothing but the pain of knowing that they were not their own, and he began to understand that freedom was the right of all sentient beings.

"And now that none of that matters now, Orion Pax…"

The light glowed, and now, in this darkest hour, his exostructure was remade in the image of the Primes themselves, and Orion Pax closed his optics.

"For you are a Green Lantern."

And Optimus Prime opened his optics, and the green light of courage and will shone forth.
