DISCLAIMER. I do not own Eve. Just an over active imagination and a sleeping laptop that has Eve bookmarked on IPlayer.

It wasn't sleeping, as such. It was a power-saving mode, really. Eve didn't sleep. Not like Will did. Eve simply had no need for such a thing, the same way she had no need for food, or water, or oxygen. Will often wondered what she did during those long night hours when everyone else was asleep and she was left to pace up and down the house with her own thoughts.

"Do you ever actually sleep?" He asked her, one evening when they were crammed together on the sofa, watching some film on Channel Four, the name of which Will couldn't be bothered to remember.

Eve tore her eyes away from the piece of popcorn she was strategically analysing. "I do not require sleep."

"What do you do, then?"

"Power-save," she replied. "When it is necessary, I power-save." Her eyes returned to the bowl of confectionery on the table - she was fascinated by food - as she leant back against the sofa, mimicking Will's actions, effectively ending their short conversation.

About halfway through the film - Iron Man, Will soon realised, and it wasn't as terrible as he'd first thought - he became aware of a heavy weight pressing against his shoulder and down his left side, almost like he was carrying a heavy rucksack on one arm. He pulled his eyes away from the screen and turned to see what it was, only to bury his face in a head of blonde hair. Eve was slumped against his side, eyes closed, head resting on his shoulder, fingers clasped around his sleeve like a small child, completely still. If it wasn't for their conversation earlier, he would have thought her to be either sleeping or dead - the soft beep that came from her wrist told him that she was still very much alive.

He gave her a nudge; his left side was starting to feel a little numb from her weight. "Eve?" A small crease appeared between her eyebrows, but she didn't move an inch. "Eve?" Nothing. Not even a flicker crossed her face. His side was killing him. Eve was like a metal wall leaning against him. He gave her several more nudges, trying to gently move her to the other side of the sofa, but she seemed to determined - despite being oblivious to everything going on - to remain leaning on his shoulder, to remain as close to him as possible, with her vice-like grip on his sleeve.

Since she clearly wasn't going to be waking up any time soon, he shifted round on the sofa into a better, more comfortable position, so that Eve was curled into his side, head resting under his chin so that his side wasn't in agony anymore. In all honesty, this position was...kind of nice. Almost comforting. A little strange, perhaps, given the context of the situation, but comforting all the same. He could almost drift off to sleep himself, there and then...

He didn't make it to the end of the film.

This is now my headcannon - Will just being like "Eh, whatever, let's just hug." You go, Will. :)

BONUS HEADCANNON - Will's dad Nick finds them later on, and has one of those My Child Has Grown Up, Don't They And Their Significant Other Look So Cute parental moments. And then he takes a picture to be kept for all time.

Because that's totally what I'd do.
