A Fair Trade

He was standing in front of the gate. He'd know that gate anywhere, even if he could no longer see it.

"Back for your eyesight, I take it? It's not going to be that easy." Unseen by him, Truth smirked. "In order to gain anything, something of equal value must be lost. That is the principle of equivalent exchange."

Roy bit back a smug 'I know.'

"So the question is, Mustang," the smirk widened, "what shall you give up in return?"

The colonel gulped nervously.

"Colonel. You can see again." A statement, not a question.

"Indeed, Lieutenant. Though it cost me something important in exchange."

"Oh?" She tilted her head to the side, looking at him curiously. "What did you have to give up?"

Uncharacteristically flustered, Colonel Roy Mustang began to sweat profusely. "Ah, well…"

"Yes?" Riza prodded.

He sighed. "Let's just say you and I won't be consummating our relationship anytime soon." A pause. "Or ever."

I'm so sorry! But it had to be done.

Hopefully, this helps take some of the sting out of Chapter 102.
