"Dad," Denis said, as his father opened the door to his room. "Is everything ok?"

"I'm afraid not," Mike said, his voice shaky. "There was an accident at your mother's work."

Denis turned pale. His eyes darted around the room, the walls were getting tighter. He began to feel light headed. "Is she alive?" Denis asked with a strangely calm voice.

"She is alive," His dad said. He put his hand over his eyes. "But she has gone insane. I-I don't know how they just said to look at the goddamn press." Mike looked faint. "Look, remember the job that I applied for last week?" Denis nodded. "Well, I got it! So now I can keep us afloat. We'll be fine, so Denis please don't sell any of your stuff you need it for school, Your mom wouldn't want you to."

Mike gave Denis a big hug and as he let go his eyes shed a tear. He offered to take Denis out for a hamburger, but denis refused. Mike sighed, "I know that you have something to say."

Denis shook his head. "Ok, well I am going to go for a walk," said Mike with a sniff. Then, he left.

Being the only one in the house, he grabbed the landline. "What do you want?" said a voice from the other side.

"Robin, I know you hate me, but what do you know about Scientists United?"

"Why the sudden interest in the SU, you bailed." She took a long sip from a juice box.

"I need to know. Please give me a password." Denis said.

"How do you know there is a password? How do I know you are who you say you are?" Her voice was no longer aloof.

"Because Robbie told me there was one, you know when we were still a team. Before I left. Can't you just help me?"

"No. You know why? Because you sided with your mom. You sided with them. You said it was an invasion of her privacy. You said that it was wrong. Well, guess what's wrong, Denis. You ratted us out because you thought it was the right thing to do. Well guess what we've lost all of our progress, the software has been repaired and there is no way to find anything. Because of you."

"Robin..."

There was a click from the other end. The dial tone rang like a knife in his ears.

He ran back into his room and opened up his computer. He opened the file manager and went into the textures for a video he and his dad played a lot. There was a folder named Custom Textures with a whole bunch of different versions attached to them. He opened a .jpg file and there was a map that was obviously a floor plan for the Scientists United, but the background was blue and the hue of the forefront was changed as well. Giving it more of a video game feel.

Denis opened up a browser on his computer. 'SU news.' He typed in. Only one video that was published in the last 24 hour.

There was another catastrophe at the Scientists United. President of the corporation, Molly Juniper responded to reporters. "It is a horrible tragedy that this happened." After firefighters were called to the scene, 3 casualties were confirmed dead, 4 more with a minor injury. Specialists confirm that due to missed safety procedures that were put into place to protect the employees has caused these deaths. Back to you in the studio.

Denis looked at the search results again. There was one from last month. Where a batch of deadly poison had found its way into the testing lab. They made a point of saying that it was the janitor's cart that had run into the pipes.

There was nothing on his mother. No mention, no name.

Denis went back to the floor map. There was the testing room, the engineering room, the computer lab, the offices, the storage unit, the radioactive unit, the biocontainment room and the extremely powerful computing room.

His mom had worked in the computer and calculations department before Denis ratted out that he and his friends had infiltrated their system. She was demoted to the testing room, she seemed paler, skinner. Looking at the map, it must be because of the radiation room next door.

The computer room was in the middle of the building, and hard to get to. There was the roof, which was imposable to get on top of. The pipes were too small. Even if the building was approached from the side, with all the heavy metal walls, no signal would ever get through. So how did it?

The only other way a signal could get into the building was with… wires. A long tunnel that you could use to get into the building. Or did they have to, if the entire network was hooked up to the wires, then intercepting in between the main station and the dish would be easier.

He went to the phone again and called Robin.

"You've reached the Lamb residence we can't take your call so please leave a message." Denis sighed.

The door opened, it was his dad. "Hello, Dad," He said. "Are you feeling better?"

"A bit better," Mike looked over at the phone Denis was carrying. "Who were you calling?"

"Ahh... No one!" Denis said, quickly shoving the phone back onto the dock.

"Don't lie to me. Who were you calling!?" He growled.

"I, I was calling Ms. Glass. I had forgotten what pages I needed to read for Monday," said Denis.

"I see, and what pages do you need to read?"

"She never picked up."

Mike grunted, "You have better have not been calling your old girlfriend. If you ever do, that means trouble for both of us."

"Look, dad, I'm sorry. I made a mistake, I should have never been friends with any of them."

"Yah right." He snorted and went to his room.
