Intro
Thursday Night
Charlie Dupree was working in her kitchen to make supper for her grandson Matty early on a humid Thursday night. She was thinking about what she and her daughter Lt. Diana Dupree Wilson discussed the other night on the phone. She had mentioned the drug problems she was having in her corner of the world. Her daughter heard the worry and stress in her mother's voice. Something was getting ready to happen and Diana did not want her son in the middle of it.
She had finished the turkey sandwich and was ready to take the soup off the stove when the backdoor was kicked in with a spray of wood and bullets. Two strong arms grabbed her and a hood was thrown over her head. Her last thought was to thank god that Matty was in the basement playing and was not a target of who ever had taken her. His mother was due home soon from her job at Naval Air Station Oceana where she worked in the cybercrimes division.
Chap.1
Early Saturday Morning
Leroy Jethro Gibbs got off the elevator at 6:30 a.m. on a muggy Saturday morning with his first cup of coffee of the day. The MCRT team was on the weekend rotation to cover the incoming cases; the rest of his team was scheduled to arrive at 10 a.m. due to the fact that they had been pulling long hours for the past three weeks. Tony, Ziva, McGee and even Abbey, Ducky, and Palmer were showing signs of major fatigue and stress burn-out. Their last case was one of the hardest that they had ever handled.
It dealt with a serial killer that kidnapped Navy dependants. He would rape them and then set the victims on fire. His only mistake was that he had bragged about his latest victim in the wrong bar. Sitting around the room was several FBI, ATF and NCIS agents including Jethro Gibbs and Tobias Fornell. Silently the whole room drew guns on the loud mouth drunk and closed the case. Vance was so pleased that he had told Gibbs that the team could come in at 10 am to work the weekend shift.
Tony awoke with a start when his cell phone alarm went off. He noticed that he had fallen asleep on his couch still dressed in his suit from the day before. He shut off the offending noise and noticed that he had missed a call from Gibbs.
"Damn he is going be so pissed that I missed his call. I better get my ass in gear and see if I still have a job today." Tony opens his voice mail and listened to what his boss had to say.
"Hey DiNozzo, I forgot to tell the team that it is casual dress this weekend so spread the word to McGee and Ziver ok? Oh and Tony, no sleeping in your suit on the couch, you have a comfortable bed just down the hall that is calling your name." Gibbs laughs and ends the call knowing that his senior agent was doing just that.
'How the hell does he know that I was asleep on the couch?' Tony walks to the bedroom leaving a trail of clothes behind him. He takes notice that his alarm clock is showing 5:30 in the morning, He then remembers Vance's direct orders not to show his face in the office before 10a.m. so he falls face first into his pillow and grabs his comforter before going back to sleep with a snort and a snore.
