Me? Cupid: Chapter 1

Mereko's POV

I crossed my arms and snorted. "What do you want Izumi? You're wasting my time."

Izumi, the still very annoying Shinigami, gave me his irritating laugh. "Aw, Me-chan. And you seemed so happy today. Did you finally forget about Ta-kun?"

I growled and clenched my fist, but then stopped. This is not how an angel is supposed to act, Mereko. I took a deep breath and glanced back at Izumi. "Listen, Izumi. I'm going to ask you one more time. What do you want?"

He sighed as Jonathan, his brainless ghost of a partner, came around, going on about wanting roasted yams. Izumi, finally irritated, pulled his top over him, sending the poor ghost into a frenzy.

I couldn't help but laugh, which made Izumi smile. "There's that Me-chan you don't see everyday. Anyways, the chief wanted me to tell you that she'd like to speak with you."

With that being said, Izumi grabbed Jonathan and flew off, leaving me in a slight breeze. I was about to smile, but then I stopped. Why waste a smile on Izumi?

I flapped my wings, shaking my head sadly, and flew off towards the cheif's waiting post. Just like Izumi said, she was waiting there. I closed my wings and gave a quick bow. "Izumi told me that you wanted to speak to me."

She nodded. "I'm glad that you got the message, Mereko. I have, let's just say, a mission of some sorts for you."

I nodded. Geez, she never gives me a break. It seems like it's one mission after the other..

"Stop complaining, Mereko. You've had plenty of breaks. This mission involves two humans you fortunately know. Remember a miss Mitsuki and a mister Takuto?"

My mouth hung open. Takuto and Mitsuki?!?! Of course I remembered them! I was like remembering my name. "What's the mission about?"

"Angels get a taste of people being happy and being sad. You, Mereko Yui, have seen plenty of sadness, seeing that you were a Shinigami beforehand. I want you to experience the exact opposite. Your mission is to watch over the love affair of your two friends."

A hint of jealousy pinged in my heart. Takuto was someone I used to love so much. Sometimes, I wish that me and Mitsuki could have switched places. I shook those thoughts out of my head quickly and nodded. "In a way, you're saying that I have to play Cupid right?"

She let out a small laugh. "The two haven't seen much of each other in six years. They both decided that Mitsuki was way too young to be dating at 12. They've all changed, even you. It'll be quite interesting how this works out. Mereko Yui, you're mission starts now!"

With that said, I bowed at the chief. She gave a slight nid of her head. I flew off, and as soon as the chief was out of sight, I let out a happy scream. Takuto, Mitsuki, and I would all be together again!!

I flew down to Earth and found Japan. Finding a shady tree, I sat down and sighed. I hadn't even considered the mission yet. What was I going to do to get those two together? I let out a loud sigh.

"Well, first thing is first. I have to find one of them first to figure out what was going on between them."

I let out a confident laugh, and got up. I flew around, trying to remember where the Kouyama household was again.
