A/N: A poem from the point of view of Todd. A reflection upon Neil's suicide.
Goodbye
You didn't say goodbye.
Why?
Did you not care?
That is not what I want to think,
But could it be true?
Perhaps you were afraid,
Afraid of what we'd say,
That we would object.
If so you were correct.
You committed an act of cowardice.
I can't condone that,
Charlie won't,
Nor Knox, nor Pitts,
None of us,
Not even Mr. Keating.
While we are proud of your life,
We are ashamed by your death.
Why didn't you talk?
Perhaps you did, and we wouldn't listen.
Then are we at fault?
There were signs,
I look back and there were clues.
Indications that what you said,
What we saw,
Conflicted with what was said before.
We all wanted to believe what we had was perfect.
When we were together,
We were invincible,
We were indeed gods,
But it was fated not to last.
Even dead poets cannot live forever.
But we will try to hold fast-
