"What the hell is it?"
Was the first words special agent Timothy McGee heard as he walked into the NCIS team's latest crime scene.
Now, McGee had been to a lot of strange crime scenes in his time at NCIS. Tramping through people's home's usually revealed some pretty strange things. All odd habits, ugly shirts, and strange pet's were on display, with the owners on an autopsy table and unable to explain why exactly they had a set of shoes that were two different sizes.
McGee was used to it. What McGee was not used to however, was his fellow special agent's, Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David standing side by side, at a crime scene, with their head's lightly tilted to the side, and staring at something.
"Hey, what are you two looking at?"
Called McGee as he sat his crime scene kit on the kitchen table of the dead former Navy Commander's house.
"Art. Or, as crap."
Called Tony over his shoulder and then turned his gaze back toward the thing. McGee stood for a moment, contemplating on weather starting to process the crime scene or see what Ziva and Tony were looking at. His curiosity won the best of him. Soon McGee was in the living room, and looking at the thing. The thing, was a large blue…block like thing, splatter painted, with a bunch of holes in it, and this large metal thing sticking out of it.
"What the hell is
it?"
Mumbled McGee, Tony sighed.
"Well, Probie, if we
knew why would we be staring at it?"
Ziva gave Tony a playful
smack in the arm and turned to McGee.
"It's some work of art the Commander bought. Insured for a ton, most important thing he owns. Since it's so valuable we were going to process it but…"
"It's shit."
Tony said bluntly. And, McGee had to admit, for a priceless work of art it was pretty damn ugly. Ziva shrugged. Not agreeing with Tony, or denying the fact that it looked like something somebody yanked out of the garbage.
"Well you know what they say, beauty is in the eye of the buyer."
McGee smiled a bit at his Co worker's bad English skills.
"It's beholder, Ziva. Not Buyer. Although, who would want to buy this is beyond me…"
Tony nodded, agreeing with McGee for once. Of course, if you had saw this 'work of art' you would be agreeing with McGee too.
"It's like that geeky girl in the back of the glass with glassed and acne. The kind of girl McGee took to the prom."
Ziva responded before McGee had a chance to defend himself.
"Why doesn't it surprise me that you are comparing art work to women, Tony?"
Tony just gave her one of his usual dazzling smiles, the very one that she was immune to.
"Oh, but Ziva. It's my signature."
The three continued to stare at the thing for a few more seconds, McGee then broke the silence.
"So, we should get processing it."
Tony just shook his head.
"But it's just so
damn ugly. Shouldn't there be a law against's processing
something that is uglier than Brittany Spears?"
Ziva rolled her
eyes.
"Again with the women, Tony. And don't you get any idea's of just tapping it too hard and knocking it over while dusting for finger print's. Now let's start processing."
Despite Ziva's words, none of the special agent's moved. That's just how ugly it was. The kitchen door that McGee had come in just moments before was then opened, and the agent's boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs walked in.
"What are you three
doing?"
Gibb's asked, irritation lacing his voice. Tony then
responded.
"Just contemplating art, boss."
Gibb's then let out a smile, something the agent's hardly ever saw, and shook his head.
"You mean the stand where the art was, Dinozzo?"
