Warnings: Some OOC ness
Disclaimer: I do not own Pandora Hearts.
Jack loved when it snowed. The pure white flakes falling from the sky always captivated him. He used to hate the snow because it would just freeze him as he slept out on the street. However, when Lacie came into his life, he began to love the snow. It was snowing when he met her. It was snowing when he found her again after those eight long years. Today, it was also snowing as he walked over to her tower.
He stuck out his hand and watched as the snowflakes fell into it. It had been a steady snow when he left, but now it was picking up. It didn't matter how hard it was snowing though. Jack had to go see Lacie. Every moment he got with Lacie was worth all the time and trouble it took him to get there. He quickened his pace as he saw the top of the tower through the trees.
He walked up to the door and opened it. He walked up the steps to the next door where he knocked. He stood there with that happy, little smile of his as he waited for Lacie to open the door. A minute later, Lacie opened the door. She was dressed in her favorite purple dress, and he watched as her earring dangled from her ear. Jack smiled as he reached up and touched his matching earring.
"Hello, Lacie." He said. "I brought us some lunch." He held up a wicker picnic basket with snow dusted on top of it. "I made a carrot cake for you. I also brought some tea and orange tarts."
"Thank you, Jack." She said as they walked into her room. "Just set it up near the fireplace."
Jack walked over to the fireplace and started laying out their lunch. He could feel the warmth of the fireplace rush over him. He watched as Lacie walked around gathering two small plates and pouring two cups of tea. Jack wasn't very fond of tea, but he would drink it since Lacie made it. She then walked over to him and sat down by the fireplace. She handed him his cup of tea.
"Thank you, Lacie." Jack said as he took a sip. "So how are you today?"
She cut a piece of the carrot cake. "I'm fine, Jack. Levy and Oswald are gone today to visit some noble family. I was very bored until you got here." She said smiling.
"Well, I'm glad that I could help." He replied as he bit into an orange tart.
They sat, ate their lunch, and talked for a bit. Jack listened intently to Lacie's every word. He then noticed that it was getting late.
"I better get going." He said as he gathered up his basket. He always hated when he had to leave.
"The snowstorm is really bad." Lacie said as she looked out her balcony window. She turned back and walked over to him. "Just stay here for the night."
"Uh, I can't do that." Jack said nervously.
Lacie giggled at his nervousness. This man had been a prostitute. He slept not only in many women's rooms but with them. Yet here he was nervous about sleeping in the same room as her. "I'm sure you've spent the night with many, many women before." She said.
Jack knew what she was talking about. While staying in her room shouldn't have been a big deal, it was different because it was Lacie. He had a feeling that if they got too close then she would disappear again.
She stepped close to him. "Just stay in my room, so you don't get caught in the storm. I'm not asking you to be my whore."
He thought about it, and as he heard the wind hit against her window, he decided he would just stay. To be honest, he was glad to get to stay. It meant more time getting to see Lacie. "Okay. Thank you, Lacie." He said as he sat his basket down and took off his coat, shoes, scarf, and gloves.
"You can sleep on the floor by the fireplace." She said as she laid down a blanket and a pillow.
Jack walked over and sat down where she had laid his makeshift bed. He watched Lacie walk away to her bathroom.
Jack sat and stared out the window. The snow always had a way of throwing them together. He laid down and threw the cover over himself. He'd sleep and then head back home in the morning. He closed his eyes, but they flew up when he felt something beside him. He turned to his left and saw Lacie about an inch from him. He felt his face get warm, and he quickly moved away from her.
"What are you doing?" Jack asked embarrassed.
"It's cold on the couch. I thought we could share and keep warm." She said. Jack noticed she was dressed in her nightgown, and his face felt even warmer. It was a long, white nightgown with sleeves that went to her elbows, and it hung loose on her petite frame.
"I can sleep on the couch if you want." He said as he got up.
Lacie laughed. "Jack, we used to share the same blanket eight years ago. We used to keep each other warm when it snowed. Don't you remember?"
He did remember that. He remembered holding her close for warmth and breathing in her scent. He remembered how the snow would fall down on them. He remembered it all, but it was different eight years ago. 'I wasn't worried about losing you then.' Jack thought.
"Jack, I'm not going anywhere." Lacie stated as if she read his mind. She patted the floor. "Just lay down."
Jack walked back over and laid down on the floor. Lacie covered them both with the blanket. She then scooted close to him. "Pardon me." She said smiling. It was the same thing she said eight years ago. She inched even closer. "It's so warm in here."
Jack smiled as he realized what she was doing. She was playing back when they meet. "What's with you?" Jack asked, playing along.
Her face got very close to his. "Interested in me now, are you?" She asked.
He stared into her eyes. They still looked like they could swallow him.
She reached over and grabbed his long braid of hair and undid it.
"Can I cut your hair again?" She asked as she ran a hand through it.
"Sorry, but I like it like this." Jack replied. Lacie frowned. "You're no fun." She said.
She then reached up and bit his ear. "Ow!" He yelped. He hadn't expected her to do that.
She then leaned over and whispered in his ear. "That's what you get for not letting me cut your hair."
He reached up and rubbed his ear. He remembered when she cut it eight years ago. It hurt like hell then, and it did now too. He had to smile though. Lacie was so strange and interesting. He never knew what she would do next.
About that time, his thoughts were broken when he felt something on his chest. He looked and saw Lacie lay her head down.
"Are you nervous, Jack?" She asked. "Your heart is beating fast."
"No." He quickly replied. However, he was nervous. He got this way when Lacie was this close to him.
"Does this make you nervous?" She asked as she moved her face close. He shook his head. He could feel her breath as she got even closer.
"What if I kissed you?" She asked as she ran a finger over his lips.
"Um, well, um." He stuttered. Lacie moved her hand and placed it on his right cheek. He closed his eyes and waited for it. Instead, he felt a sharp pain in his left cheek.
"Ow!" He yelped. Lacie had bitten his cheek.
"The way you wince is quite adorable." Lacie said. She then planted a kiss on his cheek, and he blushed. "And the way you blush."
She then put her head back on his chest and laid an arm around him as if nothing happened. "Get some sleep, Jack." She said as she closed her eyes. "I'll see you in the morning."
"Okay. Good night, Lacie." He said. However, Jack didn't sleep. He stayed up and watched to make sure Lacie wouldn't disappear. He didn't want to lose her. He needed her by his side.
"Lacie." He whispered. "Please don't leave me."
Outside the snow continued to fall. It always had a way of bringing them together.
