It has been 3 months since the Cylon war has ended. The Galactica is preparing for decommission. Commander Adam is preparing his speech for those who going to attend the decommission ceremony. Captain Lee Adama, Lieutenants Helo and Valeri are transporting a scientist named Gaius Baltar to the planet Hector, to investigate a distress beacon from a lost Colonial freighter believed to have been shot down during the Cylon war. While on the surface this is the RDM BSG, and not the TOS BSG, there are references to the Cylon's as having an Imperious Leader, an Empire and a Cylon Alliance. However the Cylons would not need to be present. Gaius Baltar, being a narcissistic, coward, sociopath who in every version of BSG is responsible for colluding with the enemy and having the 12 colonies destroyed, is the curious onlooker who meets a xenomorph and brings an eggling back to Caprica. The destruction of the colonies has not great "pearl harbor" or "911" type attack. More like an infestation of xenomorph aliens.
