This is my first attempt at a Lion King story. I decided to do a little what if story from Nala's point of view. I've always really liked her, she has a great personality. So here it is! Hope you enjoy it.
Chapter 1
Simba's fall
I watched as he fell. His usual sleek gold pelt was coated in a thin layer of mud and grim. Blood streaked his boys and oozed out of open wounds. This was nothing like the Simba that stargazed with me at or night, or teased me about the most irrelevant things. This was a Simba I had never seen before. He was too weak to even stand after the last blow. He was completely vulnerable and There was nothing I wanted more than to help him to his feet and walked away from this bloody massacre. But fate decided otherwise. Time seemed to slow down. The wicked lioness known as Zira loomed over him, a crooked smile sat upon her lips.
A muddled scream escaped from my throat. This couldn't be happening, Simba's couldn't die, not like the last time. But this was much more real. Zira's yellow eyes gleamed menacingly as she raised a paw, her sharp claws glistening in the rain. Simba lay on the ground, battered and beaten to the point where he could barely push himself up. He raised his head and narrowed his eyes at her. A fighter til the very end.
How could this be happening? I ducked under a blow, and rushed towards him just as Zira brought her paw down swiftly and strong. Simba's beautiful amber eyes meet mine just before Zira's claws connected with his throat. I could feel the emotion in the look, the love he couldn't put into words. Then it was over.
"He's dead!" Zira proclaimed. A choir of cheers rang up behind her. Her wicked, bone rattling laughter filled the air, making the world spin around me.
"DADDY!" Kiara shrieked running to his body.
Her eyes, just the same shade as his, glistened with tears and she collapsed next to his body. I stood there for a moment, so overloaded with grief that I couldn't think. Pushing myself up, I staggered over to my daughter. I pressed against her, and together we wept. He was gone, he was really gone. This wasn't like when he disappeared after the stampede. He would no longer wake up and tell me a funny joke or make stupid remarks about the bugs. All of the stuff I had taken for granted about him was gone. Without warning, my sorrow turned into rage.
"You," I spat turning to Zira.
I rose to face her, every muscle in my body ached to kill her. She looked completely overjoyed at my pain. Now I knew why she yearned to kill Simba so much. She wanted me to feel the pain that she had. And the pain I was feeling was worse than any blow or scratch could inflict. I wanted her dead.
"Poor little Simba. Looks like he wasn't the king everyone thought he was. Run out by a bunch of rouge lions. Mommy Nala, and baby Kiara left all alone," Zira taunted in a baby voice.
I bristled. I knew I was in no condition for a fight though, but that didn't stop me from wanting to. She stared at me for a moment, her eyes taking in all the misery written so clearly on my face, before her eyes lite up. Her dark tail flickered back and forth and she cocked her head to the side.
"Since I am a just ruler, you will have until sunrise to leave. After that, I will send out a patrol to kill you," Her voice was ice cold.
"No, this is our home," Kovu steeped in front of me protectively, his lips peeled back into a snarl.
"My own flesh and blood," She snarled, "Defying me!"
Zira's eyes seemed to scream how crazy she was as she leapt at Kovu. She caught his shoulder and the two slammed into the ground. Her slammed his paw into her muzzle, leaving a nasty gash. Another lion raced forward to aid its leader. It shoved Kovu off Zira.
"Leave! Take your filthy princess and get away from me!" She spat in disgust.
Kiara rushed to Kovu's side, her eyes streaming tears. She helped Kovu to his feet. He glanced at his sister Vitani, an unreadable expression coming over his face before he turned back to Kiara. Defeated, they knew if they planned on surviving they had no choice but to leave. I turned to leave with her, but a paw caught my chest.
"Not so fast Nala," Zira snickered, obviously enjoying herself.
"You go that way, while they go this way," Zira pointed with her paw.
I could only watch her slip through my fingers also. In a few moments my whole family had been broken up. She glanced back at me, trying to keep eye contact with me as a group of lions forced her and Kovu away from me. I watched as the her golden fur became more and more distant. Something struck my muzzle, and a warm liquid began to drip from my chin.
"You and your pitiful pride are being exiled. Of course if any of them are willing to be loyal to me then they can stay." She told the group of lions. Unbelievably a few lions I would consider friends walked towards Zira. My throat seemed to dry up as more followed. In the end only a few lions remained.
A very close friend of mine, Tatony, stayed next to me. Tatony's head was titled up with pride as she meet Zira's eyes fearlessly. Her belly slightly bulged, for she was expecting a cub. Her fur was paler than mine, an almost creamy white. Flecks of light brown covered her from head to toe. Her bright green eyes were quickly filling with sadness As they meet mine. Tatony's tail flicked back and forth.
Two sisters known as Chakaa and Mita also stayed loyal. The two resembled each other very strongly. Each had fur brighter than Kiara's. Although, Chakaa's eyes were bright green while Mita's were more amber, but that seemed to be the only physical difference between the two. All three of the Lionesses could easily be described as pretty.
"So you and three other lions are the only ones leaving? Sad to see, isn't it? Those you thought you could trust, betraying you," Her words dripped with venom.
"Now get out of my sight you filthy vermin. If I ever see you again, I won't hesitate to kill you," Zira warned flicking her tail.
Five of the outlander lions surrounded us. Exhaustion was replacing the anger I had earlier felt for Zira. Grief seemed to envelop me, but I didn't want to burst into tears, I knew that if I were to survive I would have to be strong. Simba filled my thoughts. I fell into a pattern as I walked. My mind wandered away from reality. Kiara laughing as Simba and me played with her, seeing Simba back at the jungle after I had believed he was gone. I blinked away tears. It felt like my legs would fall off by the time we reached the edge of the Pride Lands. A few of the Outlanders snickered. I glanced towards them. In a flash, his claws cut through the right side of my forehead. Stars exploded in my vision. I heard a gasp. Snickers filled the air.
"Bye-bye Queen Nala," One of them growled.
I braced myself for the worst. With a strong shove, I was falling into a gorge. The world really was spinning around me this time. Rocks scraped against my body roughly and cut my soft skin. I could make out what remained of my pride scramble down after me. After slowly rising to my feet, I limped towards them. There was concern in their eyes. Once they arrived, I allowed myself to collapse. Chakka caught me before I fell.
"We need to find somewhere safe," Mita decided.
"Right. A small cave will work for now," Tatony agreed.
I could barely remain conscious. Blood was splattered over the rocks that I had fallen over. Was I really bleeding that much? I fought not to pass out, but it was too hard. Everything became fuzzy and exhaustion soon overcame me.
AN:so I'm going over and revising and editing my work. It's crazy how my writing has changed from just a year ago. I tried to do a little bit of describing the main characters if you need a refresher. Thanks, please review!
