The sun was slowly setting over the river when Lilly realized she had no idea where she was. She had left Teddy's house to take a walk in the woods by his house and somehow ended up in a particularly weedy meadow. Sighing, she sat by the river that cut through the edge. Oh, Mom was going to kill her. She had specifically warned her not to get lost, and look what she did. She was going to get grounded for life.
"Might as well wait for someone to come get me," Lilly said to herself. She inwardly cursed herself, talking to yourself is a sign of insanity.
When the sky turned a light orange, Lilly started pacing.
"They have to notice I'm not back," Lilly thought to herself, making sure her wand was in her pocket, "It's been a long time." She was kicking up seeds as she walked, and finally looked down to see what she was stepping on.
Dandelions. Lilly knew that technically they were weeds, as Grandma so often likes to point out, but she also knew what Muggles thought they did, too. Her dad told her that when the dandelions turned white, the seeds exposed, Muggles would wish on them. If you blew all the seeds off in one blow, your wish would come true. Lilly plucked one off the ground and took a deep breath; she needed all the help she could get right now.
"I wish for a familiar face," Lilly wished, then blew on the dandelion. All the seeds blew off and scattered, the wind carrying them off.
"Lilly?" A voice she didn't expect to hear asked.
"Scorp? Scorp is that you?"
Scorpius walked out from in between the trees, "What on Earth are you doing here?"
Lilly raised an eyebrow, "I could be asking you the same question."
"I live here."
"What?"
Scorpius chuckled at the look on Lilly's face, "You're on Malfoy Manner property. This is Astoria's Meadow… or, at least, that's what my dad calls it."
"Oh," Lilly said, turning as pink as the sky was becoming.
Scorpius smiled at her, "It's no problem. So how did you end up here?"
"I got lost while walking."
"Not from Grimmald Place, I hope."
Lilly chuckled, "No, I was at Teddy and Victories'."
There was a slight pause in conversation as the sky turned a deep plum color.
"You ought to be getting home," Scorpius said. He had experience with Mrs. Potter, and if Lilly wasn't home soon, she would have a panic attack.
Lilly blushed again, but only slightly, "I don't know where that is."
Scorpius chuckled, "C'mon. You can just Floo back from my house."
"By the way," Lilly asked, as she grabbed his hand to help herself up, "Why were you coming here in the first place?"
"Oh," Scorpius smiled, "There are always a billion dandelions here, and I was coming to make a wish. I find they always come true in the best possible way."
Lilly couldn't disagree with him there.
