AN: Takes place during Path of Radiance. End of Story AN explains reasons for why this story was made.

Yearning for Strength

Sanaki was a young child, seated upon the highest power of her nation. However the moment she saw the outside world, traveling with Ike's band of warriors and heroes, she realized how small she was.

She realized the agonizing truth of how weak she was. This Ashnard, supposed demon king, could just tap her and she'd be dead. She needed strength, she realized, in order to better protect her people.

Regular weapons were out. Swords and Axes were too heavy for her childish frame, Lances left her unbalanced while Bows were an option, where would she keep her arrows? Physical Combat was out, but what of Magic. It held promise but first she would need to find a teacher. Luckily there were plenty to choose from in the army..

She first tailed the hungry mage, Ilyana. Though she was absent-minded, the Thunder Mage held great promise. That thought ended when she realized that in order to get Ilyana to train her, she would need much food to gain her tutorship.

Next she tailed the small mage, Tormod. Though not a strong as Ilyana's thunder magic, Fire Magic was devastating on it's own. Not to mention, he had fun in his magic, not hesitating to use it for his own means. The only thing that stopped her was the fact he was far too young to be a teacher. How embarrassing it would have been.

Soren, the quiet mage, was next on her list but instantly taken out. It didn't take a genius to see he only cared for Ike's opinion, why take time to train her?

She could have easily gone to Calill or Bastion on the matter but the two seemed a bit off to her. Calill seemed to fake her whole, regal personality while Bastion was a dirty old man. She just wanted a teacher that she could respect? Was that so wrong?

She ended her scouting in failure, not noticing the entire time of the eyes watching her with a serene, knowing, grace. As the Apostle went off towards her tent, the owner of said eyes flew off to gain a favor.

Sanaki was startled during the early mourning at the arrival of Soren at her Tent's entrance. One look said he was ready for battle.

Sanaki sighed, realizing he was to be her guard for this fight when he forced a tome in her hands. Her startled look gazed at his indifferent stare. He turned and started walking with a simple motion to follow him.

She didn't know why or how, but she would not look away from this gift from above. It must have been quite a sight, a young noble happily following a cold mercenary. Sanaki couldn't care for once on her outward appearance. She would finally be able to learn her own strength. Though she would later wonder why he would help her of all people.

All the while not seeing a green haired Seraph Knight and blue haired Mercenary grin at them as they made their way out of the camp.

End

AN: So the big reason for this little short is that it has been in my head for over a year. It did not need to be long and elaborate, all that is needed to know was "Sanaki wanted to learn her Magic, so Soren teaches her". In the end, this is mainly my own head canon for the two. I wanted to make two seemingly hard to approach characters bond.

That being said, this story may be used as a sort of a personal canon to any future stories I create.

That's All for this one so, ZtC Out!
