AN: Hi! Obviously Chicago PD doesn't belong to me all of the quotations are taken directly from the show. After seeing this scene this story line was bothering me to be written so I finally gave in. Thanks for reading!
Erin went to wake the sleeping girl in her cell "Nadia, It's time." She said once the girl awoke.
"Telling the truth?" Nadia only gives her three words. She reminds Erin of her younger self when drugs overwhelmed her life.
"Yeah, come on." Erin ignores her emotion and tries not to show any to Nadia.
"You're really just going to let me go score?" Erin again is reminded of her younger self as she and Nadia arrive at their destination. She has been forever grateful that Voight gave her the decision she was about to give Nadia. She could only hope Nadia would feel the same way.
"I'm letting you make a choice. That's why I wanted you to do it sober. You're going to get out I'm going to drive away then the choice is yours." Erin tried to soak in what he was saying. She was shocked the Detective was giving her the option. She was even more surprised that she was considering it. Maybe it was the guilt factor; maybe she really was ready to give this life up. She was drawn out of her thoughts as the officer spoke again; "This is a decision you need to make for yourself, or we're just wasting our time here." Erin's mind went back inside her thoughts.
Erin was pulled out of her memory as she continued to echo her current Sergeant's former words to Nadia "Take my card; if you want a life better than what you got I will help you get to the other side, that is a promise." Her heart broke as she gestured Nadia out of the car rather roughly. But she knew she couldn't show any emotion, the decision needed to be in the hand of Nadia, not influenced by her emotion.
Erin drove away quicker than she wanted to, she knew she had to get out of the street corner as soon as she could, so Nadia could think. As she pulled up to the stop light she realized how hard it must have been for Voight to do almost exactly the same thing for her. She tried to hold back her tears as she was driving but once she pulled up to a stop she couldn't help but begin to cry. Her own memories of her drug addicted times coming back and haunting her. Relinquishing control to the power of addiction was something she had done so many times, it was only now she realized how hard it was for the other side.
