Nelek Garruksson, son of Garruk Wyldesson and Milana Athreos, was raised in the Ajmer Forest by his father, the noblewoman wanting nothing to do with the son of a savage. Garruk, being the typical caring father figure, brought Nelek up in the wild, teaching the only ways he knew; those of caring for and living with the wild.

Nelek eventually became quite the young man, while his father had aged quite well and had promised a visit to see his other parent. One quick venture to Bralizzar later, and Nelek truly saw Milana for the first time. She had become a mother again, much to Garruk's surprise and slight anger, and Nelek's brother Malcolm, having had the luxuries of the city, thought Nelek to be a savage, much like their mother.

That visit was the first and last.

The night after that visit, Nelek pondered. On one hand, his mother, whom he had known a whole one day and could grant him riches for a lifetime, wanted him to live in the city and reject everything he knew. On the other, his father, whom he had known his entire life, wished him to become the next Wildspeaker.

Looking back on it, how Nelek saw the choice as difficult is beyond him. But he has never once regretted taking on the mantle of Wildspeaker, nor has he let his human body separate him from the animals he cares for and protects. And the only way to protect is to be those animals.

If Nelek needs raw power, he invokes the primal bear. When agility is key, the wolf guides him. And if combat reigns in the skies, he takes flight with the eagle. Whatever he needs, the wilds provide.
