Here we go then just a quickie...

I do not own Jareth or his peaches (well I kind of do because I'm eating one right now) - that's the peaches by the way ... :)

P.S. just incase it's not clear enough... this is Jareth's point of view ;) and no, I have no idea what a frillapod is either!

One of the things I get asked over and over again is 'Why a peach?'

Let me tell you now there is something not many people know about peaches: they are the only fruit that cannot grow in the labyrinth.

Oh we can grow apples, pears, grapes anything really. They're only the fruits you've heard of though: We grow frillapods, bonongaschluks, gomms, sramyduns and hundreds of other marvellous creations many people will never get to taste. But we don't grow peaches.

They are the forbidden fruit of the land as they are poisonous to goblins… and goblin kings alike. They have the most deliciously toxic taste that explodes into our mouths, but when it does we just can't stop. They entice us, keep us wanting more. Now, one peach may not do much harm but give it three or four later and we'll be withering on the floor in utmost agony. Our insides on fire, our mouths painfully dry and only one thing can quench such an unbearable thirst: more peaches.

A peach is a sign of upmost danger in longing for something we just can't have. They would take us to paradise but would leave us to die there. They are what goblins want most. For Goblin King's however... or rather me, the Goblin King… there is but one other thing I've wanted as badly as a peach.

I made the dwarf give her the peach because she is my own personal brand of danger. She would have destroyed me but I would have enjoyed every minute of it. I've often thought that if she had let me kiss her, her lips would taste of peaches. God only knows I could not have stopped: I'd have kept on wanting more and more. She would have been my undoing, but I knew that if her lips actually were covered in the juice from that peach, I would have restrained from kissing her. Her lips may not have killed me but the peach juice would have.

That was enough to restrain me. I would have never been able to forgive myself if I had done that to such a innocent girl.

So you see, it had to be a peach.

I hope y'all enjoyed that and I'm sorry it was quite short but the idea came to me and I didn't want it to drag on.

On another note I'm working on a new labyrinth story right now which I'll be posting in the new year, but I may need someone to help beta it and maybe make a few suggestions (I suck at summary's so if anyone would fancy writing me one when it's finished then I would really appreciate that!)
