The Sunlight Hurts My Eyes
Chapter One: The Waiting Statue And The Necklace
I'm back! I just got home from my trip to Greece, Italy, and Turkey! It was awesome, but you probably don't care about that. I will be continuing with Scarlet Harvest, but I wanted to try something new. Anyways, onward with the story!
Deep in a cave, because that's where all the cool stuff always is, there was a statue. It was sitting, staring at the entrance as if waiting for someone to walk in. It was sporting a gold chain necklace with a maroon gem in the middle of a golden pendant. It had sat there for tens, maybe hundreds of years, waiting for someone to come.
Awhile back, an explorer had stumbled upon the cave and had caught a glimpse of the statue and necklace before a wave of bats had attacked him, he had been making an awful lot of noise. News had spread of the waiting statue and necklace, many tried looking for it, but none had been successful. The rich tried to employ people to find it, they hadn't been much more successful. Legends surrounding the two blossomed and grew until they were thought to be actually true. Through the years, they were forgotten and soon nobody was trying to find the waiting statue and the necklace. Until Franklin Styling sent a flyer to a guild named Fairy Tail.
-Line Break-
And here we were at the present time, following a woman in armor with red hair, marching through a forest. She glanced at the map she had been given by Mr. Styling, it was very detailed, the path clearly shone, as if Mr. Styling had been there himself. With an armoured hand, she wiped away the sweat dripping down her forehead.
"It is really worth it?"
She sighed before nodding, answering herself. She needed the money as rent was due in a couple of days and she did have enough, but then she would barely have any leftover for food and such. It really wasn't that bad, she was almost to the entrance of the cave at the foot of a great mountain named some exotic, really interesting name.
With a small grimace, she brushed back some plants whose leaves held armies of small bugs crawling over them. She had never been fond of bugs, it could be said she was a little bit scared of said creatures. But she pushed through, making her way through the foliage, trying her best to keep a straight face and not to book it out of here. She thought back to how Natsu, Lucy, and Gray had begged her to take them with her, but she had declined. How she wished she had taken them with her, there would a ton of excess noise, but Natsu could burn the bugs and she
was beginning to feel lonely.
After about fifteen, twenty minutes of navigating through the forest, she came to the cave entrance. It was dark and not very welcoming, nonetheless she had a job to do and she started heading downward. Squinting, she tried to make out something as she headed down the cave, leaning against the stone wall. She could make out a light at the end of the cave, it was getting increasingly brighter as she came closer. As she neared it, her pace picked up until she was nearly running.
At the end of the cave was a large room with a large crystal to the left, emitting a bright glow of white light. Turning her head to the right she was met with the statue with the necklace. She stepped toward, leaning down to get a better look at it. It seemed male, but had feminine features, so she wasn't sure. The statute did appear to be waiting, seeming to look longingly at the cave entrance. She shook her head, she had a job to and a necklace to get.
Reaching down, she grabbed the necklace, sliding it over the statue's head and started to turn around to leave.
"That necklace is mine"
