Wow, I haven't uploaded anything here in forever. Well, hi guys! I kind of like this plot idea, and I'm considering making it a full-length thing once Korrlok week is over. Anyone interested in that idea? No? Alright, carry on.

-Zenaga the Sea Serpent

Tarrlok felt as if his heart stopped when he heard the news. No, he thought, his mouth feeling dry. No, that can't possibly be. He was supposed to be the one who died first. She was supposed to live on long after him, going on adventures until the end of her days, where she would be surrounded by loved ones. It wasn't supposed to be like this. Slowly, he found tears beginning to roll down his cheeks. He stood there for what felt like hours, his shock giving way to deep sadness. Eventually, his legs gave way and he fell to his knees, staring at the telegram crumpled in his hands. Murdered. He repeated the word over and over again in his head. Murdered, murdered, murdered. Avatar Korra - his wife - murdered. No, no, no, no, no...

He spent his next few days in a similar state, not eating, not drinking, not sleeping. His tears had long since run out. All he did was sit, silently grieving with hollow eyes and a tired face, clutching the telegram. His butler had cleaned and cared for him as best as he could, but nothing seemed to wake Tarrlok from his stupor.

And then, one day, his hand suddenly clenched down on the paper until he drew his own blood, and an angry fire blazed in his eyes, the only thought left in his mind being one of revenge.
