"Ed, what did you do to Al?" said Heidrich, not looking up from his newspaper.

"Uh… Why? What's wrong with him? ... And why do you think it's my fault?!?" yelled Ed.

"Well, he hasn't come out of his room since last night. I'm worried," said Heidrich.

"Um, I was afraid of this," said Ed sadly.

"What, Ed?" asked Heidrich

"He's missing everyone he knew back in Amestris. I had the same problem" said Ed, getting up from his spot on the couch.

"Let's say we go try to cheer him up?" said Ed, trying to smile but failing miserably.

Heidrich nodded, got up, and followed Ed.

"Al, can we talk to you?" Ed said, knocking on the door to Al's room.

"Um ... Not right now! Please go away!" Al said suddenly. Heidrich and Ed heard a small, weak cry.

"AL, AL, are you-?!?" Heidrich and Ed screamed in unison .

It took a minute, but Heidrich and Ed broke down the door. When they opened it they were both equally pissed about what they saw on the bed: Al, and a yellow, crying kitten.

"Um, she called to me! I have to keep Winry!" said Al, flashing his puppy dog eyes.

"Al, how many times do we have to tell you can't keep ca-" Heidrich was saying before being interrupted.

"Yes, Al, y-you can keep her," Ed whispered shakily.

"Uh, why?" Heidrich asked .

"Let's just say it's an old friend," Al said

Must have been, because it wasn't too fond of Ed, thought Heidrich as he was bandaging Ed's cuts.
