Easter Fun: Chapter One

The Guardians had just defeated Pitch and were on thir way back to the North Pole for a quick rest before getting back to work on spreading some more belief. Each of them had smiles on their faces, except one who instead had his face etched with worry and sat quietly waiting for North's sleigh/deathtrap to land. "Are you O.K., Bunny?" Tooth asked wondering why he wasn't talking after they had just gotten Sandy back, defeated Pitch (hopefully for good this time), and now had an official fifth Guardian added to the group. "I'm fine. I'm just thinking about something..." he said quietly before trailing off. "Well, don't think too hard, you might hurt that little brain of yours!" Jack teased. When Bunnymund didn't get mad or talk back, the other Guardians became worried. "North Pole, ho!" yelled North over the blustering winds as he tried and failed to mimic a pirate. After a short ride through the lift-off tunnel in reverse, much to Bunny's quiet displeasure, the ride finally came to a stop. The Guardians each unboarded the sleigh. Bunnymund trailed after the Guardians and when they weren't looking, he silently tapped his foot twice on the cold ice and jumped into his tunnel. "Hey, Bunny, you're not 'sleigh' sick, are you?" Jack asked as he turned around to an empty sleigh with no one but a few elves and yetis in sight. "Where did he go?" asked Toothiana. "Aw," cried North as he frowned, "I was going to have the yetis make him some carrot cake!"

Bunny sped through his tunnel as if Pitch and his entire army was behind him, he just hoped he wasn't too late. Bunny finally emerged from his tunnel and ran full speed to the center of his Warren where a large willow tree stood. As Bunny brushed the low hanging branches away, he could see the hollow inside of the tree. Lying in the center on the ground was what appeared to be a human boy with silver gray hair curled up with his knees to his chest. Bunnymund knelt down next to the boy and gently shook him, hoping he would wake up. "C'mon my little ankle biter," Bunny said softly, "Wake up, you can do it, wake up." Tears started forming in Bunny's eyes as the boy still wouldn't move save for the steady rise and fall of his chest. Bunnymund slowly turned the boy over so he could see his back and nearly cried out as he noticed how far the Nightmare Sand had spread. The Nightmare Sand was spreading out from the middle of the boy's back like the long thin branches of a dead tree.
