AN extreme writer's block, a case of bad laptop behavior, and a thoroughly exhausted mind equals one-shots and not chapter stories. The title comes from the movie 'catch and release' and eva cassidy's 'say goodbye' both of which inspired this piece. Italics are the song lyrics and I did not use the movie dialogue.

CATCH AND RELEASE (SAY GOODBYE)

It's funny how the distance can make you feel close

Rory smiled as she sipped the coffee from the piping hot mug in her hand and surveyed the scene before her eyes.

A laughing blond man with blue-green eyes chased a toddler across the expanse of the park lawn. The child had dark brown hair and the same eyes as his father.

So I called you up

Just to tell you why

Why I left you and said goodbye…

She approached the laughing pair as they rolled on the ground and bent near Tristan's ear. "Hi Honey." As she ruffled her son's unruly locks.

She stepped back to watch as her husband looked toward her, the boisterous laughter fading and being replaced by a smile that tugged at her heart.

"Mommy's here." Said the five-year old Grey as he looked up at her and smiled his sunniest smile. She stepped closer and hugged the two men that she loved most in the world.

She missed them so much.

I know you're different now

And I guess I changed too

And I thought what once was right was so wrong for you

Tristan closed his eyes as he felt Rory's arms go around him and Grey. He missed her so much. They both did.

"I love you." He whispered to the wind that ruffled his son's hair and placed a caress that so closely resembled her kisses on his cheek and forehead.

I call you up just to tell you why

To say I love you and to say goodbye.

Her spirit drifted on the wind and she stayed close to them, as she promised to do till they both found love… and peace again.

Love knows no bounds, it knows no limits. It is not held in place by earthly chains. It lifts the spirit to the heavens. It creates miracles in a miracle-less world. Let's hope for 'you had me at hello-I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy' silliness. Let's hope for love.
