A/N: Well, I was revisiting some of the old prompts on the proboards forums, and thanks to the March 2015 ones this little drabble popped out. This is sort of weird and experimental, but I thought I might as well post it anyway.

As always, I own no part of TSOM.

She looks up at him with a smile spreading slow across her mouth. The room is small and dark and hot. There's buttery amber light, just enough to illuminate her face, that face he's found it harder and harder to look away from lately, and the heat of the room draws in around the two of them, cocooning them.

The color is high in her cheeks and her eyes are glowing. All he can think about is how blue they are, blue like rivers that flow untamed and lovely and rejuvenating as they erode away the old silt and the dead plants.

"What are you thinking about?" she whispers. His eyes drift to her peony-pink lips. It is so hard to focus on what she's saying. He wants his lips to know her lips; his tongue to know her tongue.

"You." he answers simply.

She laughs and she is enchanting and he feels a molten burn rising within him. "Oh, what are you waiting for, Captain? Kiss me already!"

"Maria," he hears himself hiss, like a plea, like a prayer, and he's about to do it and -

His eyes open to an empty bed. The moment, so close, flies away in shreds, and he buries his face in his hands.

He's been dreaming about kissing his children's governess.

Again.

A/N: I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about this drabble, but I wanted to write something just to keep myself from getting too inactive. On a side note, when I realized the prompt I used was posted almost a year ago, it made me realize it's been over 2 years since I posted chapter 1 of my very first TSOM story. I haven't been the most active writer in those 2 years, but it's still been awesome getting at least a little involved in this community and reading all these great stories. I honestly haven't found another fanfiction community as tight-knit and collaborative as this one, so it's been cool. Anyway, enough of my rambling - I hope you liked this, and please leave a review to let me know what you think!
