John Smith smiled as he unpacked the final box. This was unusual, in that it was very strange for someone to be smiling after being kicked out of their old apartment. But then again, John had always been a 'glass half full' kind of guy.
It wasn't so bad. He had, after all, found lodgings with his old friend Craig. He pushed up his (totally unneeded) glasses and called out to the previously mentioned flatmate, "Craig, I'm going out!"
Craig peeked his head around the corner and sighed, "Doctor," he said, using John's college nickname, "didn't you just get finished? Aren't you tired?"
"Of course I'm not tired! I'm excited more than anything! New city! New things to explore! There are new clothes to be bought in honor of this historic event!" John grabbed his wallet, and ran out the door, as Craig was mumbling something about him being the gayest thing ever.
John began taking a leisurely stroll down the street. He looked around at all the shops and resteraunts there were to choose from. He soon found a shop which he deemed perfect.
A bit shabby, unremarkable in almost every way, a little unclean, with a small sign reading, 'Ponds' hanging right above the door. Perfect.
He walked in, and heard a small bell ringing. He grinned. This was exactly what he had hoped for. A danky little shop, with piles upon piles of secondhand clothing and used accessories.
"Hello!" called someone with a Scottish accent from behind the counter. He turned around to see a flash of bright red.
There was a girl. Not just a girl- a very pretty girl- standing there offering him a helpful smile. She had long red hair, that looked more like fire, and was wearing a too-big sweater that was hanging loosely off her shoulders. "I'm Amy Pond, just tell me if you need help with anythi-" She was cut off by a loud crash. She sighed, "Sorry about that."
"Rory! Can you get your clumsy butt out here, we've got a customer!" John couldn't help but let out a small laugh at that.
"S-sorry." said a man, obviously Rory, who was clambering into the room. He was cute. Very cute. Adorable really. He had those huge thick rimmed glasses and light blonde hair and his voice sounded like a kid that was bound to be bullied.
"Thanks." said John, giving them a huge grin. They both seemed stunned for a moment.
John didn't seem to notice. He began to look around. All the seemingly old, ugly clothes, were actually cool in their own sort of way. He began picking out random items.
By the time he had gotten back to the register, he had at least thirty dollars worth of clothes. The red head, Amy, smiled at him, "Find everything okay?"
Up close, her smile was quite dazzling. He couldn't help but smile back at her. "Yes, thank you." He put his items on the counter. Amy noticed she had been staring and snapped out of it. She began scanning items. "So," she said, "haven't seen you around town before. You new?" John nodded. "Just moved in a few blocks away."
John noticed the cute clumsy guy, Rory, stumbling around putting clothes away.
