Munich, Germany

"You shouldn't have let that happen."

The United States of America frowned. His boyfriend, Australia, didn't seem the slightest bit concerned, not at all. Sometimes he seriously worried for the island nation, who didn't seem to ever be fazed by anything.

"Don't worry, 's fine! There won't be war. I asked my boss, he said so."

"Dude, Mr. Frank said so too, but I just, like, have this really bad feeling."

America picked up his pace and grabbed Australia by his wrist, tugging him around.

"It's fine, really," Aus assured cheerfully, letting the other nation pull him into his arms, "Dad'll make sure nothin' bad happens."

"You said that last time too, and-"

The U.S. fell quiet. "Jett," he muttered, and Aus flinched, they never used each other's human names, that just wasn't something nations did, "you should really stop trusting England so much. He got you really hurt when he dragged you into the Great War."

"T-that wasn't Dad's fault!"

Australia raised his voice in protest, "I… just messed up, yeah? And… and we were fightin' Turkey, not Germany, and-"

"It doesn't matter!" America yelled, and Aus winced in response. The Hero could be really, really loud when he wanted to. "You… you should declare independence! Then we can sign a bunch of treaties and stuff, and you won't have to worry about anything anymore, 'cause I'm the Hero and can-"

"But your Congress doesn't want to get involved in anythin' outside of the Americas, yeah?"

"I'll think of something to tell them. Mr. Frank doesn't think like that, I'm sure we can figure out something!"

Australia laughed and leaned in for a quick kiss. America pouted but relented.

"Dude, be super careful," the larger nation breathed into the kiss.

"When am I not?" Aus joked, snickering.
