Poor Pomona Sprout. It was her first day of Hogwarts, and she was already off to a miserable start. She was in such a hurry to board the Hogwarts Express on time, that she completely forgot her luggage on the other side of the barrier. Not only that, but her sister had convinced her that she would be in Slytherin, or that they would refuse to sort her all together.

So now as the wizard called out her name, she was sure that she would bring shame to her family, one way or another. She hesitantly headed to the front of the Great Hall, where a hat sat on a stool. She picked up the hat, sat down, and then placed the hat onto her head, and almost fainted when she heard a voice.

"You are Hufflepuff, through-and-through, so where else do you think I'd sort you? Yes, your mind is sharp and smart, but I'm not looking at your brain; I'm looking at your heart." The hat said in a sing-songy voice, before shouting "HUFFLEPUFF!" Pomona let out a sigh of relief, and took the hat off. She nearly skipped to the Hufflepuff table, and sat down. A few more names were called, the head master said his speech, and then a feast appeared. Pomona ate more than her stomach could hold, and laughed harder than she ever had before.

After the last morsel of dessert had vanished, Pomona followed the Hufflepuff prefect and her fellow first years to the common room. She looked around in awe- this was better than she had imagined it would be. As she headed upstairs to the girl's dormitory, she remembered that she had left her suitcase at the station. She laid on her bed, ready to just sleep in her robes, when she heard a thunk. Sitting up, she saw her sister standing at the foot of her bed, a small smirk on her face.

"You really think I would let you leave this behind? Welcome to Hufflepuff, kid." Pomona smiled, and laid back down, happy to have this wonderful place as a second home.
