Now I look at the sky just to cry
Just to Cry
Blood. Kagome could smell the faint metallic odor all around her, trapping her in what now seemed like a small tiny room. She could hear her breath, heavy and ragged, and her legs quivering underneath her.
"Wh…y"
Kagome finally whispered, her weak and unsteady voice mirroring exactly how she felt.
She couldn't understand. She didn't want to understand. But the tears whelming up inside her told her that she already did know what was happening. It was too late.
"…Princess Kagome, I thought you would already be in bed at this hour"
The man's voice seemed cold and unemotional, but Kagome still couldn't resist the urge to hold on to it. Pretend that all of this was something else, a misunderstanding, a dream.
"Lord Sesshomaru…father was stabbed by someone! Please, please help him"
Kagome stuttered. She wanted to run towards her father's limp body, lying on the floor, but her body wouldn't allow her to. Then she heard a cold laughter.
"Poor, naïve princess. You saw it with your own eyes, didn't you. It was I who stabbed him"
"N..o, that's not true…please get some help, father is going to die!"
"He's dead. As soon you will be. I'm sorry princess, but I can't let you live now that you've seen"
As if on cue, at least a dozen soldiers rushed into the room. Kagome recognized most of them as palace guards, but none of them had the relaxed smile that she'd always seen on them.
"Lord Sesshomaru," one of them started "did you do it?"
"I killed him…however, I was careless, and the princess saw me"
"Then we must kill her too…for the sake of this country!"
Kagome didn't know how she mustered up the energy to move right then, but she did it. She weaved in through the crowd of soldiers and ran with all her might. But no matter how fast she ran, it was no match for the soldiers. She was corned in seconds. Her energy disappearing in an instant, Kagome fell to the ground. Everything in her body signaled to her that she was terrified, but she couldn't comprehend the fear. All she could understand was that her world was collapsing, and bringing her down with. But she didn't care. For all she knew her world had already ended.
Her fiancee, the boy that she had loved for almost all of her life now, had betrayed the country. Because of it, her father was now dead.
And she was going to be killed too.
"Father...Sesshomaru..."
Kagome couldn't help but whimper, as she closed her eyes to accept the blow coming towards her.
It didn't come.
"Princess, I'm sorry for being late. Are you hurt?"
Kagome opened her eyes to see long white hair and dog ears, glowing with the moonlight.
"Inuyasha"
