AN: Alright, I wasn't actually gonna publish this thing, but I was pushed into it. The reason being...it's too small; it belongs in a drabble. Oh well, what can you do? I hope you enjoy it.

Disclaimer: I do not own MKR, but MKR pwns my soul! Bow before this awesome series!

The Colour of Life

The sky was beautiful, the birds chirping and the flowers bloomed and dampened with dew. The grass was as green as it ever has been. The sun shone brightly, and it was as if Light itself was embracing the entire world.

And then, there on a rocky ledge belonging to a grand mountain that miraculously levitated in the sky, there was...

A cough.

A splutter.

A sob.

The colour of red.

"U-umi...chan..." the voice was feeble and soft-spoken, groggy and rough. The voice belonged to the girl with the name of the Light, Hikaru. Her armor and clothing was stained with her own blood.

The colour of blue.

Tears ran down the face of the girl with the name of the Sea, Umi. She cradled Hikaru in her arms, an expression on her features that clearly showed the pain of seeing the fiery girl she knew to be so...

"Hikaru, please, don't speak..."

The colour of green.

Fuu, the girl with the name of the Wind, felt like she was going to be sick. She also knelt beside her dear friend's side, frustrated and that she couldn't do anything this time, her magic won't work. A sob escaped her lips. It was too late.

Hikaru was dying.

"F-fuu...ch--" another harsh coughing fit with blood being spat out. The other two Magic Knights immediately called her name and leaned closer, looks of fear clearly visible on their faces. Hikaru breathed raggedly, trying to gain the energy to finish what she had to say. "I-I can't die...here... we have to...s-save Cephiro...together..."

That sentence made both Fuu and Umi be greeted with another wave of painful anguish. Tears flowing freely, Umi gave a small, gentle smile. "Oh, Hikaru... Hikaru... It hurts now, doesn't it? It's okay..."

"But...you two will be..." the Fire Knight grimaced as another wave of pain fell upon her. "...be... sad."

By now, Fuu was sobbing freely and loudly, and it was hard for Umi to even speak with the huge frog in her throat.

"Of course...of course we'll be sad, you idiot! But... we'll be even sadder if you were to stay in so much... much pain..." The girl looked up at her best friend, a look of regret on her face. Regret she must sadden her loved ones.

Fuu, having calmed down slightly, gently caressed Hikaru's unruly hair slowly and began to softly sing, notes wavering from the faltering of her voice. The song was soft and gentle, like the breeze...

Hikaru's eyes welled up with both tears of pain and sadness. She tried to speak, but it could barely be heard anymore. Umi leaned closer.

"...Don't...give...up...U..."

Suddenly, they both knew. Hikaru's body grew limp, and her eyes no longer showed any life. No more life, no more living. No longer alive. The two began sobbing hard and loudly, Umi squeezing Hikaru's body tightly, the most painful feeling of anguish coursing through her soul.

Hikaru has passed away.
