The Tree

Part pof the 12 Days of HiJack

Part 4, day 4, decorating the Christmas Tree.

Hogwarts AU. 1st year.

Merida- Gryffindor; Pureblood

Rapunzel- Ravenclaw; Half blood

Jack- Hufflepuff; Muggleborn

Hiccup- Slytherin; Pureblood

"So..." Merida looked at Jack as he ran around. The Hufflepuff was beaming as he followed their teacher, Professor North. Well, he would be their teacher in about 2 years. He thought CoM.

North chuckled. "He's in the spirit. Leave him be."

"What holiday?" Hiccup asked.

Jack froze.

"CHRISTMAS, DUH!"

Hiccup shot him a blank look.

Rapunzel, Merida and North watched them.

Jack puckered his lips in thought, his brown and blue eyes staring into Hiccup's emerald ones.

He snapped his fingers and ran out of the Great Hall.

The foursome then heard strained grunts.

They walked out, and laughed, when they saw Jack trying to lug in a Christmas tree.

"What are you doing?" Rapunzel giggled.

"I..." Jack turned and began to pull the tree from the top, "am going...to decorate...a tree...like...I...do...back...HOM-AAAAHH!"

He fell backwards.

North chuckled, took the tree, and propped it up.

He left the children alone after that.

Hiccup, Rapunzel and Merida stared at the tree.

"Oh..." Hiccup slapped himself, "my family calls this Snoggletog! Don't ask why we chose such a stupid name, we have no idea."

Jack smiled and grabbed a box of ornaments, some of which belonged to his family. He had asked for them to send some.

The tree was small, just a foot taller than Jack.

Merida poked the tree, "Where are the ornaments? Shouldn't they have popped out? "

"I doing this, " Jack said as he began to place candles onto the trees, casting a lumos on them, so the tree wouldn't burn, "my way."

Rapunzel shrugged and sat down. She barely ever got to see a muggle Christmas. She was used to using magic during the holidays.

"So," Hiccup walked over, ignoring Merida as she joined Rapunzel, both whispering and glancing at the boys, "YOU decorate s tree?"

Jack nodded, his brown and white streaked hair bouncing, "I usually do this with Emma..."

He looked down.

Hiccup placed a hand on his shoulder, knowing of his younger sister.

He took a small wooden snowflake made from branches tied together.

Jack smiled as he took it and hung it.

He and Hiccup continued hanging ornament after ornament.

Candle after candle.

Tinsel after tinsel.

Mistletoe after, wait...

They looked up. There, on a branch, was a sprig of mistletoe.

They looked over and saw the girls were gone.

Hiccup groaned and looked at Jack.

Jack was too busy staring at the plant.

He looked at Hiccup and then reached over to remove it from their decorated tree.

Hiccup reached out to stop him, "You...uh, you can leave it...if ya want..."

Jack nodded and looked at Hiccup, who was red like a cranberry.

He leaned over and kissed hik quickly before running off.

Hiccup stared after him in shock, placing a hand on his lips before looking at the tree.

He smiled, making a mental note to make decorating a tree with Jack something he would do each year, from now on.
